Any one picked up a mantra yet?

It's really just a Delica grip. If you can do that, you should be good with the Mantra grip

Not in the market for one, but that Mantra 1 looks really nice. Simple, elegant, long cutting edge, and looks like a nice, thinly ground blade. Probably extremely ergonomic too. M4 is a winner too.

proud owner of a mantra 2 since last week... strangely i can't get it shaving sharp, but slices through double layer cardboard easily... and just feels great in my hand and disappears in my pocket.

Like everyone has said, its a quality little knife. Amazing fit and finish, top quality materials. Flipping action can be a little weak. It will not be in par with heavier blade ones, like domino or southard. M4 will need some attention unlike standard premium like s30v.

Any info on how the Mantra 2 slices? I'm a big fan of the Dragonfly 2 & Caly, but due to the leaf-shape blades neither is particularly good at quartering and coring apples, so the folding fillet knife sounds like a pretty neat concept.

I love my Mantra2 and carry it often, but it's not the best veggie slicer IMHO. Like some FFG knives that gain thickness quickly, it can be a little difficult to send straight through an onion or apple. I reprofiled to 30degrees and had no trouble getting it hair popping sharp. Love this knife, and it displaced my 940-1 and 0450 pocket time. Some comparison pics I took for the "other" forum a while back:

Okay, I want a regrind like that! Did you do it by hand? I just reprofiled the bevel to 17 dps which already gave it a rather wide bevel.

I think your skyline with the hollow grind would work the best cutting apples, onions and potato etc... Once you reached the shoulder of the primary bevel, it actually "opens" up what ever you are cutting or help create air pocket between the knife and the object.

Hollow ground somehow became underrated IMO.

Still real happy with Mantra 2. It has been my work EDC since the first. Sharpens easily, holds an edge and have had no issues with blade blemishes.

Little knife as a slicer but OK for lunch cheese and salamis but the all time Spyderco pocket slicer to my way of thinking is the Chokwe.

I was so stoked over the Mantra series, but then I saw a video of how thin the blade was/is and I've since decided I'm going to have to feel it in hand before I decide I really want one in my lineup.

I might be a little petty here but I was hoping the blades would have been Sage series thick. They don't seem like it from what I've seen.

Here's mine with a my first effort to heat anodize. I'll probably redo it at some point but it was still fun to try.

I would totally get a Mantra 1 or 2 if they weren't so rust prone. Working at the farmer's market involves lots of cutting through wet veggies, including some acidic ones, and then shoving the knife back into my pocket wet. They do seem like the perfect knives though. Smoother, more refined delicas. I will stick to my hap40 delica slicer, which barely even discolors when abused with moisture.

Well..... picked up a cheap 940. Blade geometry was about as poor as it comes. So I sold it and picked up a Mantra 2. We'll see how that goes in a few days.

I have a Mantra 1 set aside at my local store for my birthday in a couple of weeks. I want a Spyderco flipper with premium handles that isn't ridiculous or expensive and has a functional SpyderHole. All of the other Spyderco flippers out now fail at that list, except the Mantra 1. The action is fantastic both flipping and otherwise, and it's great in the hand. Also I've wanted to try M4 and this will be a great chance.
