Nice one...I'll be going soon enough...But I'm not a good turkey guy If I sit still for too long I just fall asleep.

nice bird! how long was the beard? ...man I wish I was able to get out there:( Maybe the fall hunt. Congrats on the TOM!

Nice bird, Turner. Congratulations.

If you don't currently have a use for the feathers and would like to maximize the usage of your bird, I would bet there would be someone at an archery club near you, that could put them to good use. Just a thought.

Very nice bird. I see you've resisted the gunmakers attempts to sell you a camo, pistol gripped, 3.5" chambered, short barreled, Super Gobble Stopper shotgun. Good for you.

In fact, that looks just like my 870 do-all shotgun. I went with the 26' bbl though.

As for hunting, I decided to pass this year. The one spot of private land I usually hunt has been low on birds for the past couple years and I've got too many irons in the fire this year. Maybe next year if things settle down.

Congrats.

Very nice! Only went out once for a couple hours with my bow this year, and unsuccessfully. Will make it out a couple more times this year, just a matter of when.

I am not a hunter, but if you want Turkey, I have a bunch of Toms that hang around the front of my townhouse. They're always chasing the kids around and even some adults that don't know to stand their ground.
Come over here with a bow, the shotgun may draw too much attention.

very cool.... congrats... that looks like a nice sized bird... i haven't gotten out this year or last year, thanks to my damn knee.... it's al good now... not long before i'm out there as well...:D

Nice bird!!

I missed last year, but I will probably make it at the last couple weeks of the season this year.

Ill be going at the end of the month in Wyoming, hope I can bag a good looking bird like that one.

Thanks guys.
It was a fun trip, I drove all the way down to Lincoln NE from ND to shoot this guy. In ND our tags are given out by a lottery system and I have been passed over 3 years in a row and I couldn’t take it any more. I went down and hunted with my brother and a few guys. I am a traditional archer so the feathers will go to good use. As you can see I shot this with an 870 12ga. No high tech shotguns here, you can even see my 550 cord sling I put on if for the weekend. I tried all day sat and most of Sunday to get the birds in under 20 yards to take them with my recurve. The wind was 20-25 gusting to 30 both days and the birds were just too skittish and the decoys didn’t help at all. I ended up shooting him at 1945hrs Sunday night at 15 yards (go figure) with no decoys. He only had a 5 inch beard.
