Any opinion on Intrepid?

Since I own an Intrepid the only general statement I can make
about this knife is that it's a VERY specialized knife design.
I've not had an opportunity to test it's limits yet. I don't
think that the Intrepid is what most would call a hunting
or everyday knife. More like a do or die survival , pry
boards off a barn tough , land & sea knife.

It would be pretty hard to break one of those knives, as they ARE pretty stout. I had one of the smaller Intrepids awhile back (as well as a larger one), and it had some "problems" with it's grind-lines not being very even, but other than that minor flaw, it was a very good "survival knife".

The chisel tip version makes a great dive knife. No point to skewer yourself on or ventilate a drysuit with.(A real important point for us cold water divers!)Sheath leaves a bit to be desired, snaps don't work so great with gloves on, I made up a rubber band with a pull tab out of an old motorcycle tube that seems to do the trick.
Most "dive" knives won't take an edge worth s***, they tend to use 300 series stainless to resist rust. The Buck will actually cut stuff! I allways do a good freshwater soak on all my gear, so the Buck looks as new as possible after a few hundred salt water dives.
I just picked up a "spare" on the auction site. I'd call it a good solid product that works the way it should.

It is indeed a specialized knife. The above posts cover the fact that it is stout and cuts. It is my dive knife and an extra knife I take on the boat in case I foul the gear with line, etc.

The design is cool, a purposeful design. The Buck Knife company will stand behind their products 110% and they are good people.
