Any opinions on the Spyderco S Almite?

My dad really likes his Q, unfortunately the clip broke so he rarely carries it. I haven't had much luck locating a replacement for him and thought the S might work. He really likes the Spydie serrated edge though. Was the S available with anything other than a straight blade?

This will be a Christmas present for him. Thanks for any help/ info.

I'm carrying an S today. it is very light. I believe that it has the 'spirit' of the Q, the lock feels more secure. No SE though(yet). Does he have the std Q with the spydie? I'll check at home tonight, I may have a spare clip. Do you know if the plastic broke around the clip hole? That would make a new clip useless.

Thanks Chris. Yes it was the plastic around the clip that broke. When he bought the Q (many years ago) from a retail store, he didn't know much about Spyderco, let alone that the Q was a limited run model. He carried it everyday for years until the clip mount broke. It is the standard model I believe with the spider and web blade. His 2 favorite features of the Q were the light weight and the spydie edge.

Luckily if nothing else, that particular Q usually doesn't go for a great deal on ebay...maybe 60-70 bucks. You might be able to surprise him with a replacement. :)

I looked, sorry I don't have a clip. You should try contacting Terry at W&R. They may have something hanging around. Also the Q has 4 mounting locations. If he's not picky about Tip-up/Tip down you can use another mounting location. If you strike out totally let me know.

Wow, I totally lost track of this thread.:( Thanks for looking Chris. I am sure dad isn't picky about tip up or down. What exactly is W&R? Do they have a website? It would be great if I could locate a clip and surprise him. Thanks again.

I ended up ordering him a Waved Delica 4 as he loves my Waved Endura, but says it is bigger than he likes. Should be a nice surprise for him.:)
