Any other lefties prefer right handed knives?

And the man who wouldn't start a leftie forum has the NERVE to comment :barf: . NO, I do not prefer right handed knives!Granted, I don't give a flying fasnacht about the liner lock, but I will be DAMNED if I buy anything that I can't open with my dominant hand, if it's designed as a one handed knife. I don't see why more manufacturers and makers just don't go the dual thumbstud route. Anytime a maker or seller takes a pic of the knife, they always show the thumbstud side anyway. But, we have to have little recesses on only one side of the liner/frame so you can't flip the thumbstud around, and the knife will still be able to close just to torment 10-15% of the population!

As a southpaw who owns a lot of knives, I love my lefty knives. Of all of my knives, the ones that find there way into my pocket the most are my LH Sebenzas and LH Emersons. While I agree with the statement that an ambidextrous knife if very easy for a southpaw to use, and that dual thumb studs are easy.........the shear ease at which I can open and close my left handed Sebenza with its frame lock puts it on the fast track into my pocket for every day carry. The very fact that I can easily open and close it with one hand counts when I absolutely need to operate that knife with one hand.

A large study was done a couple of years ago that compared longevity and "handedness". What was found was that left handed people statisically lived several years less than our right handed brethern. One of the postulated conclusions for this fact was that lefties, living in a right handed world, had a greater chance of suffering accidental death than right handed persons, that is living/using/operating equipment in a world designed for right handed people. As a lefty, living in this right world, the times that I have cut...scratched...and otherwise gotten "boo-boos" from using equipment that was not designed for my handedness, I can attest to the fact that living in a right world is perilous. Anytime that I can use a piece of equipment designed for my handedness.....I count my blessings. I raise my voice in praise for left handed knives and their makers.

I carried lefty Benchmades for a long time before I found the funds to buy my Sebenzas. These are my daily carry knives. I carry nothing else. The Benchmades are gone except for my 940's.

When it comes to fixed blades I have a problem with the sheaths. Most knives come with a RH'ed sheath. If I want a LH'ed sheath I have to "special order" one which means that I spend more money than I would like. Sure, I can and have had custom sheaths made but manucturers should offer the option of a LH'ed sheath. CRK is now offering their sheaths with this option in the form of a removable keeper strap that can be switched around, excellent idea.

Face it guys, this is a right-handed world and we are the bastid children. But remember this..............

Left-handers are the only people in their right mind. ;)

I'm with Danni. While I do most things left-handed, folders are a right-handed tool to me. Fixed blades however, I prefer left-handed.
