I like the Nylon Solo, but I believe it is a 3.25" blade, and almost 8" overall? I bit big for edc for my liking. Can anyone confirm Solo's sizing?

And are there any other SAK's that are small, like a Soldier's dimensions that offer nothing other than a single blade? Thanks.

There is an Alox Solo that is the same length as the Soldier but only one blade, one layer.

Indeed. Was hoping for that cool red nylon though. Thanks.

From Googling, I am seeing some vendor's advertising the Nylon Solo in 91mm form, which would make it smaller. In fact, it would be the same size of the Soldier. Is that a typo, or was it offered in a smaller size??? Thanks!

I think it may be a typo but I'm not positive. I always thought nylon Solos were bigger than 91mm knives.

If it helps at all, here are pics of a Soldier, Pioneer Solo, and Pioneer Apprentice:

They're really nice simple knives.

Thank you for the pics. I always to see pictures here. I especially appreciate the top view that shows thickness.

I think its a typo too, but several vendors are offering a "91mm". So I would love definitive confirmation. I emailed vendors and their reply has been more or less, "I am not sure".

I don't think there is a 91mm Solo with red nylon scales. There is the Alox Solo which is a very nice single blade knife.
If you like the 108mm Solo with the nylon scales I'd get one if I were you as it is very light and really disappearers in the pocket. It's one of my favorite SAK's. You would not be disappointed.

Great, thanks! I was worried about its bulk, but seems like thats not a concern. Can I ask, how big it is overall? And how long is the blade? Thanks.

Closed it's 4 1/4 inches long.

Open it's 7 1/2 inches long.

Blade is 3 1/4 inches, but actual cutting edge is 3 inches.

I don't have the weight but it's nice and light, like an Opinel but flatter and the blade opens with a real SNAP! and you can get it plenty sharp.
Like all Vic's the quality is first class.

AWESOME! Thank you VERY much! On my way to order one!

You're welcome.

This is THE place for SAK's. http://www.sosakonline.com/
Nice people too.

Try there if you have any problems getting what you want or
if you have any more questions.

Let us know what you think of the Solo...good or bad...I'd be interested.

I appreciate it. I signed up for that site, and was told I needed permission to post. I couldn't even request it. So I guess they don't want new members. Oh well.

I will definitely report back. Thanks again!

The nylon 108mm Solo is a fantastic knife--and, yes, there must be some misprints on the web. The blade is larger than the Soldier.

It is kinda big, but still carries well, as Jacknife stated.

I have an Opinel #8 carbon, and though a nice knife, I believe the Solo is, generally a much better knife.
It is just as sharp, stainless, no "swelling of wood", grippy handle, nice "snap," and only $10 shipped from the legendary Cat-Man.

I've stated this before, but the Victorinox knives are SO good, they are almost boring.

Oh, that handle is surprisingly nice. It seems more sturdy than the normal cellidor. Would be pretty cool to have a Soldier with those scales.

Oh man I am so psyched for this thing to get here!!! I wasn't even this excited when I ordered a Sebenza. I really like the way the handle looks old school. Can I ask, what or where is "Cat Man"?

RevolverGeek, thanks for the pic. Thats exactly what I needed.

Ahh, thanks. Will contact him. Already ordered one, but since its discontinued perhaps I should jump on another. haha

That notch looks awesome. So you can finger open it, inside of fingernailing it. Any tips on how to copy you? haha
