any particular oil for your satin??

I usually use Renaissance wax on satin. Mineral oil, or eezox.

Pretty much anything will work pretty good since INFI really doesn't need much protection.

If you live in a drier climate, I would personally just skip oiling it myself and just clean with soap and water. Oils attract grit (abrasive) and hold it to the blade which can damage your finish much more when forced is applied than a bit of potential light surface rust. When it comes to Infi, all you really need to do is keep it clean and dry unless you are in highly rust aggressive conditions. Inspect occasionally and if you see a bit of surface rust you can get it off really easy with a bit of toothpaste on a rag and some elbow grease.

This is gonna be the blade I pass to my son one day when I'm on my death bed.. but Knifehunter has at least 1 more with black g10 from a small run... this thing is a pinch over .32 an that's without coating!!! This is also the sharpest blade I have EVER witnessed...seriously

Then you've been missing out --- you should see how sharp/perfect I can get Busse blades to be ;)

As for what lubricant/preservative to use --- I'd say it depends on whether you're keeping it for short term storage or long term storage. I would use gun oil or wax for long term storage and mineral oil for short term. Either way -- keep the blade clean when putting it away.

I use mineral oil. I like the way tigerhide looks after a light wipe. It really pops the green. That is one nice chunk of infi u got there. Good luck

Congrats... She's a beauty!!!

I think I would try some renaissance wax, it's suppose do give excellent protection from moisture and rust.

+1...

If it's a safe queen or going to be stored for a long period of time,
Ren wax works great! ::thumbup:
Museums use it to help protect their carbon steel weapons, etc.

I have the perfect oil to use....send her my way and I'll take care of her for you.:)

On satin infi I will put a coat of Militec-1 on them right after I get them. Wipe them dry and wipe them down with a little flitz every now and then. Never had any trouble.

+10 on eezox, I had guns sitting in a house with 2 feet of water back from katrina that came out rust free. Clp is good aswell or as previously mentioned a dry protection like Tuff glide

The oil of the mineral beast, refined and applied liberally to the steel of the forgemaster, to be delivered to the hand of the defender.

It is nice that you are giving a temporary foster home to my knife mate... ;) ;) I have a cheap shaving brush that I keep in a zip lock bag, it is impregnated with a clear mineral "butchers block oil" that I have worked to coat all my blades in (cleaning the old coating off and using this one as the times come around). Prior to that it was (like Aias) a shaving brush with Ballistol.

I'll take good care of her for ya Andy....permanently:D

No need to oil INFI. Beat the snot out of it and put it away dirty. Give it a soul and make it yours. :)

I noticed that someone just picked up that last one of these monsters from Knifehunter.. was that you Breavis? or was it you Andy??
