I wish I could but im stuck with clay pigeons. But atleast I get to go next weekend. I just wanted to know if any lucky guys around here are getting to go.

i'm unable to make it out anymore but a friend is taking his red tail hawk out to hunt. he said there's nothing neater than watching a red tail hunt game. hunting is one sport i miss not being able to do badly.

Hey Guys...

Peasants are hard to find around here...

you can Thank PETA for that as well...

Not enough people hunts coon, Fox or Yotes, they aren't worth the hassle to skin out, because prices are so low....

There use to be Peasant everywhere only 15-20 years ago...

Gobblers are doing well and have a nice family of 20-30 birds around the house all the time....

Went out with my buddy and his dog a couple of days ago in an attempt to shoot a few grouse or woodcock. Came up empty handed but had a nice afternoon in the field just the same.

I am going to take the boy next weekend. We have 84 acres of natural grass with a 5 acre pond in the middle. We almost always get our daily bag limit. Tasty little birds!!!

Iowa's the place, all right. I have hunted west of Ft. Dodge with great results, on a friend's farm. Planting some sorghum at the end of rows really creates cover and the birds flock to it.

Another Iowa boy chiming in.....

There's too much corn still standing to have any luck just yet. Too much cover for you to cover.

Give it a week or two, and I'm sure odds will improve. I will have to say that I hear more 'yote howling than birds cackling anymore. Pretty much traded in the 12 gauge for a .223.

I'll try to post later this week and let you all know if we see any when harvest starts behind my place. It really is a little cool to watch the birds doing the "duck and run" from the combine. I can't (and wouldn't)shoot 'em then, but i can learn a lot....

Been out three times this year so far. My Springer picked up right where she left off last year. Beeen a pretty good year, will get even better when all the crops come off and the weather gets cold and keeps all the arm chair wussies at home.

Happy hunting and be safe

I'd love to go but the pheasant population here has gone to crap. There used to be pheasant everywhere....but now...nothing...nada. Red foxes moved in to the area and they get the eggs. Such a shame.....pheasant hunting was my favorite as a kid.

Wanted to go over to Nebraska this past weekend for their opener, but too much of the crop is still up.

Plan to go out for the Colorado opener in a couple of weeks. This will be the first opening weekend I've been able to hunt in over 10 years! So glad to get out of the desert SW and back to CO! :D
