Any plans for a "better" Lite Machete sheath?

In the areas we haunt, if your machete is in it's sheath then it might as well be at home.
Also, for a sheath to be on your side, you'll want the cheap, flimsy nylon that doesn't get in the way of you sitting down or that will retain water like leather will. I have many 'chetes and I own 1 universal fit hard sheath that stays on my pack at all times. ;)

I agree. Couldn't have said it better.

I've found my included sheath slides nicely in between my pack and the compression straps. Works fo' me.

I started a thread HERE making the suggestion of simply elongating the sheath by an inch or two. This would give the sheath some good retention due to a snug fit of the widest part of the top of the handle in the mouth of the sheath, much like is seen with the sheath for the Cold Steel Bushman. It wouldn't cost much to change, and would make the sheath ten times more effective.

Well, I for one would have paid $100.00 for it with a decent kydex sheath and I am sure I am not alone in here. It really is a nice machete. I am in Miami and grew upusing cheap ass "disposable" type machetes and this thing is nice. But just a thought I am positive you could sell more than a few kydex sheaths in here.

You are not alone. I will also pay $100 (or even more) for a Lite Machete with a kydex sheath. Because I just hate cheap things.

Understaood but you are in the 1 percent that would. When we do production Kydex runs, we do it in a way to save costs so that means building a lot of them at one time. The best bet for someone wanting a Kydex sheath for their Lite machete is to find someone who will build one for you. Shotty (mod here) may do that and charge you 75 bucks :D

I remember finding a guy who did machete sheaths in kydex for only $40 but I can't remember the name of the place. Do a search for "Tramontina kydex" and you'll probably find him though.

Wow, the Amish must have gotten a little more out of hand since I was there. :D Or maybe you're referring to the wild times down the road at the Gap Diner?

(j/k with you, I used to live out that way.)

I agree with you and Jeff, it's always in my hand if it's a place where I need a machete to start with.

EDIT: Whoops, just noticed this was an old thread and Mil-Ops Knife CO was banned. I can't keep up with who all is banned these days :(

For $12 I got a Blackie Collins sheath for my 12" machete from Ontario. It's thicker material than the cheap canvas ones that are for the Ontarios.
Point is, it's just to cover the edge. I don't find myself wearing that large of a blade on my belt, more so with an 18" blade.
Do a search for Blackie Collins machete sheath, and you will find them, if interested.

Don't forget the sheaths for the Condor 18" El Salvador model! Still cheap but a lot nicer than canvas options. :)

I was not just speaking of the molle backing ? people used the 3/4 molle back, bungee type cordage ,or stuff the machete into sheath and use a small strap w/ cam buckles that bolt into lone top hole on said sheath alot of cheap dollar store mods can be made..:D
or use supplied paracord from any previous ESEE knife 6-8" green cord ,run one end thru hole on sheath ,wrap over handle and use cord lock to tighten...

Out of everything I've seen so far, Tony's sheath mod is one of the most slick and it looks fairly simple! Maybe if he see's this he'l post up a pic or 2 of it. He attached a snap loop make for one of the regular blades to the sheath. The snap simply wraps around the kydex handle and snaps closed, holding the machete tightly in place.

Thanks !I used the 5/6 Molle back but the 3/4 Molle back will work also

I just got this sheath from a guy by the name of Heber. Very user friendly and looks real sharp. Im sure he wouldnt mind making a bunch of sheaths...his email is wildmanh at yahoo.

I have been reading this forum for a while, finally decided to pony up the dough to become a member- this is my first post. I also attached a pic of my favorite knives....
