Any pointers for new knife makers

Read all you can. Attend any hammer-ins you can get to. Don't be afraid to ask questions. And Practice, practice, practice.

What Sharpe said and x2 on the ask questions part-alot of knowledge floating around these parts:thumbup::D

At 11 years you are a young smith, indeed. Read all the information in the stickies at the top of this fourm. Read as many books as you can get your hands on (try the local library). There are several good smiths in your neck of the woods, maybe one will invite you over for a lesson or two.

Understand that this is not the same as building models. Knives are real weapons and tools, and not toys to be played with. Respect them and you will be way ahead. You will need your parents aid and permission to go much farther. Have your dad or mom post on this thread how they feel about this.

Take care and read ,read, read.
