I am a big fan of 80CrV2 for outdoors knives, and it appears ProCut will be as tough, but have better edge retention and corrosion resistance. I certainly won’t abandon 80CrV2, but look forward to trying out some ProCut. So many great choices available.
*Also not a maker- but I do use blades outdoors a lot in all sorts of weather.
CPM CruWear is an excellent steel but it is not a “low alloy” steel so it isn’t really in the same category. Meaning it isn’t ideal for heat treating in a forge, forge welding, etc.
If the supply can get firmed up, I would switch to ProCut for my carbon simple steel needs. Should perform very well as a tough chopper and replace 8670 for me in that role, or as a EDC or chef knife, replacing 52100 and 80CRV2.

Doing the same thing. I have one more bar of 8670, I’ll probably give it away and stick with ProCut. I will, however, maintain a supply of PSF27 on hand for my clients that tell me D2 and nothing else. ProCut has given me some very positive results.
