any raw materials useful from home depot?

I've found interesting handle material at the Good Will store. They came in the forms of trays, bowls, book ends, shelves, and carved animals.

I was given a gift certificate to Lowe's not long ago... the only things I could find there that I wanted were portaband blades and a couple pairs of safety glasses. Their tool selection is not very metalwork or quality oriented mostly. I find the same for HD.

Personal protective gear, some adhesives (I like the Loctite 60 min. epoxy in a pinch) and some pin stock is about all I can recommend from a big box store.

I agree with Salem. I often find myself wandering aimlessly in these big box hardware stores because they have so little of interest to metal working. Sure, you can buy drill bits there and Dremel supplies, if you actually find a use for Dremels (which I did... but only when I added the HF diamond burr set to it). Otherwise, you go to those stores to buy light fixtures, gardening supplies, or lumber and nails for building a deck. Oh, and you can get a pretty good deal on a washing machine or refrigerator there too... so if you need someplace to cool the beer in your shop, it might be worth a stop.

My local HD stores don't even sell portaband blades anymore, they seem to get less useful every time I go in there.
