Basically, yes, that's what I'm asking. If the axicube fails, it's a brick. Since the angle can be set by the knob but it also extends, so it's really hard to get a set degree with this setup or repeat the same setup. It makes it versatile, but it also means that you have to go back and set the angle every time, so it's a weakness at the same time. I'm not saying it's a bad system and you could get another angle cube after market to use if the axicube fails, so it's not a complete brick.
Just for reference, since I use the wicked edge more recent but it's the same with kme or edge pro, I just write down the number for a knife, it has a graph location for how far forward and how deep the knife is, so I can repeat the same knife placement every time. I'm sure over time, you could get quicker with the tsprof but it would never be a quick, repeatable knife placement like the WE, kme or edge pro (been a while since I used the edge pro, so I can't remember how quick that was)
Someone mentioned it (tsprof) is like an ikea furniture with the instructions, I couldn't agree more. I thought about figuring out which one (WE or tsprof) to let go as there would be no need for two of them but I'm finding it really hard to let go of the WE.
I have a third party angle cube that I'm going to measure the angle's on the WE versus what the setting shows, does 28 degrees match 28 degrees? If so, that would be right on the money and could flip between either systems, using the same angle consistently between the two. I over think things but I'm really curious also.
I've got some time to sit down with both systems tomorrow and really compare the two.
