Any Strider experts out there?

I received this knife (Strider Wp?) in a trade and brought it in to my local knife shop and both of the employees were skeptical about its authenticity, after I get a few responses I will point out what they noticed. I was hoping perhaps fellow BF members could help me figure out whether or not I got duped.
The knife came covered in oil, I wiped most of it off and noticed pitting and assumed it was there to hide that.

I have had many Striders and currently own a WP Spearpoint. Yours is legit! Remember Striders aren't known for their amazing fit and finish. For the money I have very quickly realized they are not worth the retail price IHMO. My ZT 0551 booted the Sng out of my pocket.

Did you remove some of the tiger striping from the blade? Is that what you are calling "oil" or did that come off during your wipedown? Not trying to bust your chops just trying to understand the knife and the situation.
...edited to add. Knife looks legit from what I can tell. Both the blade and kydex seem to be authentic.

I didnt wipe any of the tiger striping off, the shine and flash made it look like its not there. I have the blade in my hands right now, everything is there. I used only my fingers to remove the oil, then cleaned my fingers off with a rag and repeated the process. I didnt take your question as trying to bust my balls. Thank you as well for your response.

Cool man, glad you didn't take it wrong. Sometimes things don't come across as simply inquisitive. What is it about the knife that makes you suspect it's a counterfeit? Are the pits deep?

It's legit. It's a WP. Maybe Strider's lower priced models have worse fit and finish than their more expensive models. The WPs retailed for roughly 175. For a long time you could not find a Strider for that low.

I own several Striders and yours does not raise any red flags. It just looks like it has had some minor use i.e. in and out of the sheath a bit. Not a big deal. I would not worry. Enjoy your knife.

I personally had no problems with the knife. Having never owned or even playing with a strider (other than a buck collaboration fixed blade I bought many years ago) I brought it into a local knife shop. The owner of the shop had mentioned that there are quite a few fakes out there and that the only real way to tell is to send the knife to strider, but doing so runs the risk of me losing the knife if they find it to be fake. He said it looked a bit on the thick side, the knots tied in the paracord dont look like something strider would do, the blade looked glossy, and "the sheath doesn't look right". The pits arent deep at all, in fact they are somewhat hard to see when not at the right angle or very close.

Thank you very much. I definitely will.

Hard to say without seeing it in person. However I get the feeling it is just an older piece that has some honest wear on it. Striders are very thick and chunky, I am not positive but I think Kydex sheaths are made individually to each knife and regarding the knot work? Maybe someone replaced it from the original. Paracord is not exactly titanium.

LOL, "that knife looks too thick and roughly finished to be a Strider" is not exactly a common statement.

I brought the knife in again to have their braniac look at it, he said everything checks out and that it is in fact real.

Thank you everyone!
