Hello everyone,
I was wondering (which I already presume that many of you have already done that before) if anyone could give me some suggestions or advices on what I should take in concern when gluing liners on stanless steel knife's tang. I am planning to glue the liner with epoxy resin on the tang before I will mount and glue the handle on to the tang.
So, is it possible that I could squeeze the glue out, by applying too much pressure after the glue spread? How much pressure should I provide for good bound between liner and steel tang? Is it possible to somehow soak the liner with glue or whatever to make it more waterproof?? Because from what I have experienced, vulcanised fibre are very ''water conductive'' if you know what I mean... It can get soaking wet in no time
Should I roughen up the surface of the liner material as well and ''poak the glue in'' before aplying epoxy for final bonding?
Please share your opinions, give advices, previous experiences with gluing such material, etc.
If I have missed anything important with my questions, please remind me.
Thank you very much.
Best, Vito
