Any suggestions for gluing lining material? :)

Hello everyone,
I was wondering (which I already presume that many of you have already done that before) if anyone could give me some suggestions or advices on what I should take in concern when gluing liners on stanless steel knife's tang. I am planning to glue the liner with epoxy resin on the tang before I will mount and glue the handle on to the tang.
So, is it possible that I could squeeze the glue out, by applying too much pressure after the glue spread? How much pressure should I provide for good bound between liner and steel tang? Is it possible to somehow soak the liner with glue or whatever to make it more waterproof?? Because from what I have experienced, vulcanised fibre are very ''water conductive'' if you know what I mean... It can get soaking wet in no time:(
Should I roughen up the surface of the liner material as well and ''poak the glue in'' before aplying epoxy for final bonding?

Please share your opinions, give advices, previous experiences with gluing such material, etc.

If I have missed anything important with my questions, please remind me.

Thank you very much.
Best, Vito:)

Glue your liner material to your handle material before you try to glue it to the tang. You can get better contact by clamping to a true flat surface and work from there.
After you have the handle material then glued to tang with pins etc, almost finished, wick some super thin super glue on to the liner material at the edge of the handle.

Thank you so much guys for many awesome replies. Much apreciated.
Just in case that anything goes wrong with positioning...any ideas how to remove glued liners (and the glue) with Devcon 2 ton epoxy?
Thank you

also...about perforating liners...how much perforation there should be? 1mm holes? Bigger? Smaller? Density of ''holing''? Does to dense perforation reduces the effectivity of the epoxy adhesive?
Thank you everyone.

oh..another thing...I posted it on british blades forum too, but I'll post it here to, so I can get as many opinions as possible...
Anyone fammiliar with CA 1500 super glue?
Can it be used for long-term bonding on liners to tangs and wooden scales?
Is this CA 1500 super glue any different from loctite super glue?

Are loctite super glues resistant enough to vibrations, water, shocks, heat (sanding), etc..?

Thank you all.

Spela,

Posts like this do not belong in the Custom and Handmade forum. Shop Talk is the correct place which is where I'm moving this.

MOD...thank you for warnings...now that I've found out where is that famous SHOP TALK located, It'll make my posting much less ''frustrating'' for admins and mods...
Thanks..

Well, now that's in the right place...any answers maybe?
Best, Vito

You're over-thinking it. Just laminate the liner material to the handle scale and treat it as a single unit.
