Any thoughts on Barrage?

I had the 585 lost it but no matter as I replaced it with the superior 586 AND 581. I carry the 586 at work and the 581 on weekends. No complaints at all. I butchered a deer this year with the 581 and it is still razor sharp! Gotta love that M390! I love the assisted opening and sometimes think that the de-assist crowd fancy themselves as the true aficionados and they may be right, but the AO is great if you need a quick one-handed knife that's failsafe.

I've got the 580 and the 585. I'm pretty new to carrying a knife. I have carried a Kershaw Leek off and on for a couple of years. I also have a Kershaw Clash, Buck 110, had a Spyderco Ambitious, and some Gerber thing, and a couple generic fixed blades for the woods and such. Since upgrading to these, I've always got one or the other one me. I like them both -- a lot.

My 585 came with the tiniest bit of side play. I took off one of the scales and tightened the screw a tiny bit, and it's solid as a rock. The 580 has been rock solid from day one. I do like the light weight zytel scales over the stainless steel liners (although are not as grippy as G10 if you need that). The ergonomics of both of these are on the money for my medium sized hands.

Yes -- I do love the assist. The 580 especially opens with authority, and they are easy enough to close one handed on my leg.
