Any threads/articles explaining general knife terminology, what makes a good knife?

Are there any threads (or articles elsewhere) here for newbies like me that basically explain about knives, just generally.. terminology, different types of steel, how they're made, what makes a good knife what makes a bad one, etc etc?

You should check out the knives section of Doug Ritters "Equipped to Survive" website - Doug is a knife rights advocate and his website offers good general information.

He also does collaborations with Benchmade, and I believe he may have done one with AG Russell also.
