Dick, Great photos, brings back memories of deployments in Thailand. Amazing what comfortable camps can be made in the jungle with the most basic of tools. I was in Brunei and the Gurkha camps were the same, simple, made from bamboo or small trees and amazing. John

Dick its not the knife that is so impresive but the bamboo it self.. With bamboo you don't need anything else to more then just survive.. you can build almost anything.
Wish we had it growing over here too..

A 10" chopper or a good machete are great tools for cutting larger brush, saplings, branches. For finer work, a dependable 4" - 5" fixed blade completes things for me . This was depicted in the guy's gear, although he was carrying two machetes.

Dick,

Great photos, very inspiring... got to say though about half way through the pictures, I had one of those "bad" thoughts... for goodness sakes lets not let anyone at IKEA see these. American emergency rooms have enough troubles with "some assembly required" furniture as it is. ;)

Thanks for the pictures!

Erik

I wish we had bamboo growing in North America to play around with in the woods.

I went back and reviewed your previous thread and photos Dick, that was an outstanding adventure.

Thanks so much for sharing them. Through your photos and storytelling, it was like being there.

Thanks for the complimentation
