Any tips for multiple quench lines?

I used the custom search and still couldn't figure out how this is done without clay, i.e. getting multiple quench lines showing up on the same blade. Like the way Don Carlos Andrade does on his knives:

Tai Goo's version is the best that I have seen. I think that is where Don learned the technique.
 
Ive done it a few times....or at least similar. Im not sure how it happened, but it sure looks cool. I thought I messed it up, but Don Hanson said it was good...so it must be
