Any tips on working with macarta?

Robert,

Did you get the buffer at Sears? I need to purchase a real buffer rather than using my converted bench grinder.

Post some photos when you get done, so we can see the final results.

Do you still need to wear a respirator when hand wet sanding, or only when grinding with power equipment?

I probably wouldn't wear a respirator with hand wet sanding. The water will keep the dust in slurry for the most part. If you're worried, a simple little dust mask will work for hand sanding. But still need the respirator for powered work.

Another tip,get a piece of auto heater hose, split down the middle, tear off a piece of coarse cheap sandpaper. Then put one end in the split and wrap the rest around the hose, works great for finish work, finger grooves, etc.Regards Butch
