Any trick for not getting pinched washers on a sebenza when assembling?

They take time to break in. I had two that were the same. You can't crank the pivot down or it will be impossible up open one handed.

You did not pinch a washer, just made the pivot to tight.

Crk will probably loosen the pivot and make it smooth then send it back to you. But if you crank down on the pivot again it will do the same thing.

i buy all my sebenzas 1 year or so older thats not the problem ether. And i don't think you understand how the bushing works.. The bushing is there so when you crank the pivot screw down all the force is on the pivot bushings and little on the washers.

I definitely do understand how the pivot bushing works. And this isn't my first rodeo with a sebenza. I don't think you understand that you still cannot crank down on it. EVERY sebenza I have owned did the EXACT same thing that yours are doing. The only way I have remedied these, were to break them in completely, or to shave down the washers on some 2000-3000 grit.

But cranking down on the pivot bushing will make the blade very tight to open on some.

There are a TON of threads on this. You do not have a pinched washer.

Here are three I googled in a few seconds. All have the same complaints as you. I need to find some that I posted on the same issue.

My large insingo that I bought from Knife art.....right now.....this very moment.....if I crank down on the pivot bushing.......it does the exact same thing as yours. EXACT. I can make a video of you need one.
