I wouldn't pack a fixed blade in jersey--and I'm pretty sure you can't (when not afield)--especially when there are so many good folder options.
Sure you can -- Jersey's got lots of fields -- and streams, and woods, and lakes :D Actually, New Jersey is not knife-hysterical. We're more like upstate NY.

I am surprised to see so many Mainiac's on the Forums :D
I too am a Mainer.
I've been carrying multiple knives for years and had no problem.
Here the only problem would be if you got in some unrelated trouble and they found hidden knives on you.
That would not be good
That is unless you had a concealed weapons permit.
There are too many Outdoorsman here, Mainer's and Out-of-staters, to inforce any kind of no knives Laws - In your average circumstances that is.
Ayah, it sure is nice to see so many Maine people all talkin' knives. :)

i've enjoyed seeing ppl from Maine here on the Blade Forums and also on the Candle Power Forums. lots of ppl carry, but not with the kind of passion we have!

i'm up in Aroostook County enjoying some luvly 34º weather (it's supposed to hit the 70's today tho?). up here things are pretty relaxed, for the most part.

Wicked nice to chat with ya'll, the comment about a ccw is a good one. Maine is one of those states where the CCW includes the carry of knives. Balis and daggers and I believe autos as well. doesn't have anything to do with how many you cary but might be worth while just for CYA purposes and cuz ya can. It used to be like sixty bucks for a permit has it changed?

34 degrees sounds pretty good, its gonna hit 88 down here and that is cool fall weather.

it's $60 for non-residents. also $60 renewal for non-residents.
for Maine residents it's $35 and $20 for renewal.
18+ and now you can go thru the whole process (aside from the safety courses) online.
