Minnesota and Wisconsin hunts this year. My buddy wanted to try it early to miss Tick season. We put in for the first slot last year in mid April. Waded through 3 feet of snow, never heard a gobble. Saw one jake waaaay across the field, looked are way then turned around and went back in. By may the snow had melted for my WS. hunt, real quiet on the first day. 12"s of snow fell on day 2!! I started to think there would be no bird, but by the 4th day the snow had melted away and was successful.
Hoping this year to be much better weather with both seasons in May. I also just was thinking today that I need to get up 5ish and throw up the sash. There's a bunch behind the house and should be rattlin on the limb by now.

Yessir Indeedee, and I am starting to get anxious. Soon!

Good luck to all. I hope ya have a big'un, all fired up, come to your call & I hope ya drop'em with one shot!

u.w.

I'm in Missouri. I hope this season is better than last spring season. Last year was so windy and the temperatures were fluctuating. It's always fun either way.

I live in Indiana, but bought some land in south central Kentucky that should be great for turkey. I've never been too serious about it here, but having a good spot changes things. Looking forward to it. Youth season is coming soon.

Wow, I am doing some hard work compared to some of you guys :D

In Colorado we have two types of turkeys, Rio Grandes in the east and Merriams in the Westersn Mountains. I got a Rio last year, so hopefully I can seal the deal with a Merriam this spring.

I'd like to hunt Merriams one year. I hope you get one!

I got out yesterday for a couple hours of scouting. I didn't see any sign or hear a bird but it was still a good feeling watching the sun come up. I hunt only state forest which can be stressful and challenging. I've called up several "hunters" over the past few years. I had a nice bird strutting at 75 yards last year that spooked fro no apparent reason. A couple of minutes later I see a guy walking towards me. I wave and whistle to be sure he sees me. He walks over and excitedly ask if I could tell which direction that turkey was gobbling from. I pointed him to an old clear cut then headed the opposite direction. Good luck everyone and stay safe!

I'm hoping to get out for some public land turkey hunting soon in MI. We saw a lot of turkeys last fall while deer hunting, but I'm afraid a lot of them didn't survive this nasty winter we had. Here's to hoping I can get a little bit of luck...... :)
