Any Wharncliffe fan here?

I started with the Case SwayBack Jacks & Gents but now it is the QEC & S&M and a few Customs to kinda make the heart beat faster.!** Love that Wharnclffe Blade.********************************************************

I like the blade, size, and price, but the deep grooves on the handle bother me. They seem like overkill on a knife this small. How do you feel about them?

Are you referring to the Minimalist? If so, when CRKT announced the knife and I saw pictures of it, I thought it looked it like it would be uncomfortable to use and just dismissed it. A while back I was looking at the knife selection at my local Lowe's and there was the Minimalist, so I decided to try it out. I found out I was wrong about the handle. It's very comfortable and the grooves make for a very secure grip, even with the smooth, rounded handle scales. Only thing I didn't like was the bead blasted finish, so I polished it some, which gave it a much nicer look, IMO.

I am.

Great collection:eek::D the top one look awesome, whos the maker?

love them. such a useful utility design, I've been carrying my spyderco Centofante 4 a lot lately. on the days I don't carry it I often find myself doing certain tasks and wishing I had a wharncliffe on me.

2mm thick, hollow ground, super thinned out edge (I lay it flat on the stones, the start of the grind is slowly being ground away)

Despite all my rage, I just whittled this ball in a cage:

Daniel Fairly made that for me, he's a custom knifemaker with his own forum here. We call it the Havok X (10-in blade) and it's 15 inches of 0.316" S7 with glow-in-the-dark scales that he also made.

He also made the two cord-wrapped ones, and the titanium one with the bottle-opener handle.

I may try that. I'll never be able to afford a real Folts wharncliffe. Thanks.

The wharncliffe is one of my favorite blade shapes. It (in most iterations) pairs the easy-to-maintain and precise-cutting straight edge of a sheepfoot with a pointier, more useful tip. I also just think they look cool.

edit: Historically speaking, Anglo-Saxons of the Middle Ages seemed to appreciate a very similar blade shape.
