  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Any winter campers use a sled?

old GI cross country skis will haul most loads, even old arm chairs through powder.

pretty sure that for about $20 you could make risers and a plywood platform to haul gear on, or save a little weight and use a net to hold your gear.

Download the "Pulkbook" for a bunch of ideas and links to parts and bits for the harness and attachments.

Looking at the Granite Gear pulk is kind of daunting. That looks like something for bringing a base camp way into nowhere. For hauling 35-50 lbs it seems like bigtime overkill. Note that I don't ski though, so it could be different for that.

Kifaru. Hopefully I'll be pulling an elk out of the mountains within the next few weekends, and there's not a sled in this world I'd rather pull than a Kifaru

The Conovers place a very strong emphasis on traditional methods and materials, which would explain the similarity. Their web-site: www.northwoodsways.com the gallery section features some nice pictures of sleds in use.

X39?

Ticked me off that the original site I had saved had disappeared, but the sled the person made looked like this one:
