**Any word on the Buck Strider SNG?

It is being unveiled at Trexpo in VA next week. It is currently in production. Our Law Enforcement test team is field testing them right now. The knife will be available to LE/ Military first, public offering will follow.

I will follow up with order info in the next few days.

Thanks,

Josh

Yes I will post pics, specs everything. It is pretty much identical to the SNG in profile. It is a liner lock. ATS blade glass reinforced nylon scales. Ambi- everything. It was designed specifically for Law Enforcement and has some great new features. Pics and details to come soon.

I thought the SnG is frame lock. Doesn't this make the Buck-Strider SnG just an SnG look-a-like?

Strider designed it, asked us to build it. The design meets very specific law enforcement requirements. The SNG profile is the knife profile requested by SOCOM. We have adapted it to meet parameters of design and cost applicable to law enforcement. I fully recommend buying a Strider SNG if you have the $400 (if you don't, save till you do), our collaboration will cost the average cop $120- $130. They will get a functional Strider knife that specifically meets their requirements. A framelock is an outstanding locking mechanism, however it did not meet the requirements we had.

Thanks for your interest.

Josh

Should have all of the info posted after Trexpo.

Maybe I'm too sensitive but I detect a little annoyance that I don't fully embrace the new design. Heck, I already have one on preorder and I'm keeping it on order. But every Strider fan will be expecting a frame lock. And why not after the Buck-Mayo frame lock?

When I heard Buck-Strider SnG I assumed it would be that, a Buck production version of the Strider SnG.

An SnG look-a-like built like the current Buck-Strider liner lock will be a kick butt knife especially in the same price range as the current knife.

However, since you all called it SnG, I was expecting an SnG clone.

If I had $ 400, I don't know if I would spend that much on any knife sight unseen. Thanks for your advice on saving up but everytime I come up with a $ 100 bucks I seem to spend it on one of your knives or something similar.

You don't have to make excuses for the new knife design, it will be great. I'm pleased to see the LEO's and firemen get a good solid knife. I'd suggest you should call it something other than SnG. Save that for a real SnG clone or better yet go frame lock with an SnF.

I don't think he is making an excuse, but merely stating that they had decided to produce a SnG at a specific price point that didn't allow them to go for a g10/Ti framelock. From the sound of it, the Buck/strider SnG is going to be some type of zytel handled liner lock with a SnG profile ats-34 blade for around the same price as the current buck/strider. A previous post had said nylon reinforced handle, I don't know if thats referring to zytel or a similar plastic like material. I'm hoping that the scales will be g10

Interesting talk about "L.E. Parameters" etc. Specifically what type of parameters? There's always hype involved in a new product, what can this do to live up to the hype, and/or replace the many high quality knives already in use by thousands of Officers?

Just going to chime in here.

I myself expected something more similar to the Strider SnG as well. Especially after reading about it in TK.

I am the proud owner of a Buck/Mayo collaboration, and love that knife to death.

Since S30V, titanium and a frame lock were all part of the Buck/Mayo collaboration, I had expected something similar (not exactly like) from the knife called SnG. I can understand maybe not having all three of these elements, but none?

Given how much I like my Buck/Mayo, and how much folks like their first-generation Buck/Striders, I will be purchasing the Buck/Strider SnG when it is available. However, I did expect something more along the lines of the Strider SnG design when it was announced, since it took the name.

I think it is great that Buck wants to create a tough-as-nails folder for LEO's and firefighters, at prices they can easily afford.

Hope no one takes offense, just expressing my personal opinions and thoughts.

I didn't expect the buck sng to have a framelock since its in the hundred dollar price range. I hope there will be G10 instead of zytel. Will we see a tanto version in the future?

As long as its better than my Emerson mini-commander, count me in on the LE purchase.

I didn't catch this earlier but does ambi everything mean a reversible clip for left and right handers?! Please tell me it's true!

Does anybody know what the differences will be between the LEO and the civilian version?

count me out!! They should have another name for it. I might be better than the SNG(should be just as good) so why ride on the SNG popularity?

Sorry for the delay in response guys, I was travelling.

1. It is not called "SNG". It is just similar in profile so people have been using it since we haven't made the name available yet.

2. We will not make a framelock SB SNG with the same materials as Strider because they already do. We are not in competition with Strider, we are on the same team.

3. As far as materials. The blade is ATS-34, triple heat treated and cryogenically stress relieved by Paul Bos. The liner is stainless steel and the handle is glass reinforced nylon. These materials were selected because of their functionality and their positive effect on price.

4. Design features. We have worked closely with Steve Tarani and Strider to develop a police utility knife that matches carry and employment policy standards that is affordable to LEO's. The design features coincide with Steve Tarani's training doctrine that he currently teaches to Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement.

I will get some pics up later today and post some info

Thanks for your questions.

Thanks for the info Josh!
Can't wait for the pics. :)
I'd like to go with the stainless steel liners, which could stand much longer than the Ti.

sounds good so far, especially at the low price point. When you say glass reinforced nylon what exactly is that? Is that zytel or frn?
