Any word on the "D2" model RAT II

Yes it's a public forum, but there's no need to attack a fellow member when they are not showing hostility towards you to begin with. I don't provoke people unless I want to be engaged in a fight, and that's not something I enjoy, whether on-line, or in real life.

Scalpers in general are contemptible people, and they deserve scrutiny. Who knows, maybe that's how you make your money, and why your on the defensive to begin with. But I don't like to assume and argue about fiction, I prefer the facts.

Well, I am sorry to hear that you feel that way. All our posts are subject to questioning...it's a forum, those are not personal attacks. :confused:

And yes, I am a knife flipper. My posts in this thread about how to stop the flipper phenomenon were all part of a clever ruse.

I do have a RAT II in AUS 8 by the way.

The Cutjack just doesn't do it for me, not a fan of the design, and flippers aren't something I want to carry on my person in Canada.

I think the damn scalpers and collector's buy them in bulk, so us regular folks are left with nothing.
I’m fairly certain that the resale markup on a RAT Model 2 D2 isn’t enough to keep a scalper alive. This is a long anticipated knife and they’ve simply sold out. They’ve been widely available for a few months.

Fair enough, but for US customers they are more widely available, not so in Canada. Correct me if I'm wrong.

When I speak of scalper's buying up knives, I'm not just talking about them buying up RAT II's, but any popular product. I for one don't buy overpriced items, and I shop around for the best price, if I feel the best price is too steep, then I play the waiting game.

Interesting. Do you mind me inquiring as to why? I don't know Canadian laws so if it's a legal thing then I completely understand and apologise for the ignorant suggestion.

You come off as passive aggressive to me, and are ready to strike at any moment. I take everything you say with a grain of salt. You just may be the first person on BF that I put on my block list.

I base it on what you can import into Canada. The detent on flippers make it easy to open the knife with centrifugal force, a lot flippers use speed safe which assist the blades opening.

Copy and Pasted from the CBSA website.

Prohibited Weapons and Devices

Visitors to Canada or residents of Canada cannot import prohibited weapons or devices.

For additional information regarding prohibited weapons and devices, please consult Memorandum D19-13-2, Importing and Exporting Firearms, Weapons and Devices, Customs Tariff, Criminal Code, Firearms Act, and Export and Import Permits Act.

What follows is a list of common names for weapons that are prohibited from entering Canada:
(note the list is not exhaustive)

  • automatic knives such as switchblades;
  • centrifugal knives such as flick knives or butterfly knives;
  • gravity knives;
  • mace or pepper spray designed for use on humans;
  • nunchaku sticks;
  • shuriken (throwing stars);
  • manrikigusari or kusari (fighting chains);
  • finger rings with blades or other sharp objects projecting from the surface;
  • Taser and stun guns shorter than 480 mm;
  • crossbows designed for one-handed use;
  • crossbows 500 mm or shorter;
  • Constant Companion (belt-buckle knife);
  • push daggers;
  • devices shorter than 30 cm concealing a knife blade (e.g. knife-comb);
  • spiked wristbands;
  • blowguns;
  • Kiyoga or Steel Cobra batons (spring batons);
  • spring-loaded rigid batons (triggered by a button or lever);
  • morning stars; and
  • brass knuckles.
Apparently, you can carry any knife in Canada as long as it not carried for the purposes of self defense, or as a weapon. And you need to provide a good reason as to why you are carrying the knife. It's totally up to the officers you are dealing with, whether or not they will take it from you, or not. Obviously, if your carrying around a 6" fighting knife in the city, they will take it from you. You have to use your common sense basically.

I would strongly suggest that.

I have been trying to discuss the availability of this knife and the flipper phenomenon, not Canadian knife law or other members....neither of which seems to in any way affect this knife's availability.

I apologize to the OP for taking this thread in a different direction. It wasn't my plan to do so.

As well you should. This thread was not about flippers at all. The op asked about when a knife would be available and in the second post, a well respected member posted a link to a supporting dealer with some of these knives in stock (which they still are). Knives still available aren't flipped. Production knives that will continue to be widely produced don't get flipped.
Your country's laws leading to percieved flipping is not a concern for the op or all of us in the USA. Your laws aren't our problem. In fact, after you posted a prohibited link, a fellow Canadian gave you a suggestion on how to get one of these knives.

Then, after all of these facts were brought to your attention you proceeded to get into a verbal scuffle. All of this derailed the thread.

Some advice, take it or leave it. If you continue to act like this you will continue to run into problems with many members and eventually the mods. If you believe a post is breaking the rules, use the triangle at the bottom left of said post, and report it so a mod can take a look.

If you post information that is irrelevant to the thread and/or inaccurate (like you did here), expect to be corrected. Might be good to take notes from the shadows for a bit, as you said.

For me, the rat 2 is too small. I had a zancudo that I never carried for that reason (btw, similar knife as the rat 2 and it comes in d2). That said, if I wanted a rat 2 in d2, I know exactly where to get one at a great price (second post).

All good points craytab, I'll keep that in mind. :cool:
