Any word on the S30v leek?

cmd, the word from Al Mar is that they ship 10MAR06....we will see...if that is true, we will have them by weeks end...I handled the prototype at Blade last June and was impressed.
wells...visiting us with ready cash or plastic can be hazardous to your financial well-being...doubly so if you bring wife or girlfriend, as they invariably will spend money at the gift shop.

Could not think of a better way to "part" with my $$$

Mike, that would be very nice. It's supposed to be a very nice weekend weather-wise.

wwells20, Charlotte is dangerously close for me. I could easily see getting in the habbit of eating lunch there on a regular basis if living in Bluefield.

Well for a QUICK review (knife just got here)

I'm NOT as impressed as I hoped I would be, but I have VERY high standards (I've carried customs for the last 10 years)

The blade is noticibly rough when moving the first part - and rough (not STIFF, rough) when closing. Definately needed a bit of lube coming out of the box

Blade was not as sharp as I would have liked it out of the box - yeah, it'll shave, but the knife WILL be going on the gold waterstone when I get home

Other than that - It's a leek - I wish the tumb studs were big enough that you could use them to open the knife - I'm not thrilled with AO, but..

I bought it because I like the blade shape, it's good steel, and the price is reasonable - there are times you REALLY don't want to walk around with something as expensive as a DC Munroe Chimera (which I like, except I hate recurves, because I hate sharpening them - always end up rounding the tip on the knife)

Preliminary "gut feeling"? It'll become a hanger queen for me - and I'll get something like a Nemesis etc - Maybe a William Henry - Wish there was a Sebenza in the blade shape of the leek

I was looking at the S30V Steel Leek but decided on a knives of alaska super cub folding caping knife in VG10 steel. I was wanting a knife that I could carry and use as a caping knife. However, if anyone is interested while I was looking I found the Leek at Natchez Shooters Supply with a price tag of 59.99. They were out of stock but they have an icon you can click on to register for an E-Mail when they get some in. I hope this helps!!
