anybody carry one of those scandium snubbies?

I have the scandium/titanium snubby too. Definitely less pleasant to shoot than my 4 7/8" barrel Gary Reeder 500 Linebaugh. However, my shooting buddy and I can both put 5 rounds in the black at 7 yds with warm Cor Bon 357 loads, no problem. You just shudder for a bit afterward!

I would argue that the snubbie is fine at longer distance, just a matter of practice. As far as preference between revolver and pistol, it is just personal preference. I carry both at the same time simply because the Kel-Tec PF-9 fits flatter in the pocket and in my Kramer Deep Cover T-Shirts while the 325PD rides on the belt along with either a J-Frame or Detective Special.

theoretically the snub is about as accurate as a 4" bbl, practically speaking is another story though lol.

imho it would not be recreational to put the amount of ammo thru one it would take to be good with it, not saying its impossible, but am saying it wouldnt be fun lol.

imho, for me, a kahr PM9 or P9 just makes more sense, plenty powerfull, plenty accurate, another shot or 2, easier to shoot, almost as light, probably easier to conceal, lots easier to reload, just makes more sense to me.

I shoot my snubbies about the same amount as I do my other carry guns. I try to make it to the range once a week and will normally put 50-100 rounds through each one shooting drills like the El Presidente. For many years we would shoot the Bianchi Cup course of fire with snubbies, I didn't have any problem on the Practical course of fire keeping all rounds on the Bianchi Tombstone target at 50 yards with my Detective Special.

I am a firm believer in the policy "If you carry it then practice with it". We had a competition this last Father's Day and I choose to shoot my 325PD (2 1/2") instead of one of my competition guns. The pistol portion included 33 steel and paper targets shot as a single event. I ran the course just 2 seconds behind the winner who was using a high cap race gun with a red dot sight. Snubbies work...:D

Lightweight snubbies are great to carry....but they are no fun at all to shoot.

And a .357 magnum lightweight snubbie is downright painful!

I have a 638 (bodyguard airweight) and it's plenty light for me. With +P loads, it's not a fun gun to shoot, but the recoil is manageable. I would not want the gun to be any lighter or more powerful than it is- those scandium .357s are crazy.

With the "iron sights" (such as they are) I suppose I could hit a bg's chest from across the room, but with Crimson Trace lasergrips, it is capable of amazing accuracy. With the laser on, it is about as accurate as my Sig or Glock. The lasergrips are a must have on a J frame!

I wonder how effective the scandium .357s are for SD. After the first shot, I doubt I could maintain proper trigger control- because of the gonzo recoil.

I still carry my old stand by - S&W model 60 - 1st issue and when I travel I carry my Kahr CW 9 and damn I love that gun ! Never have had a misfire and it just seems like a part of your hand ! Different kind of guns I know but 40 years ago I was carrying a S&w 44Mag - 29 W/4" barrel and a S&W 357 Mag 66 Snub ---- my how times have changed !!
