Yes and yes. On all the Spydercos that I keep I thin out the edge and then convex the shoulders of the edge bevel. I have a really strange way of sharpening most my knives. I take the secondary bevel down to no greater than 20 degrees inclusive, sometimes much more acute than this, then convex the shoulders and use a roughly 30 degree inclusive microbevel for touch-ups. I also leave the tip a few degrees thicker to keep it more robust for digging around in wood etc. For smaller knives I don't do the tip thing though.
I just did my Byrd Robin. Of course, that's a long way from s30v, but it looks fine. I was just very careful not to scratch the top sections of the blade. I knocked the bevel off, going through 400, 800, 1000, 2000 grits. I can honestly say that it is now sharper than when I got it. I love CONVEX!
