Anybody draw a good hunt tag?

Getting a little antsy with the fall hunting seasons coming up. Just wondering if anybody drew anything good for this fall.

I drew a muledeer buck tag for the Hells Canyon country, and my girl drew one of our local bear tags.

Elk, deer and bear tags for the Palisades Zone. All OTC, but they're close to home, which means more time in the woods. Good luck out there.

Hey there my neighbor to the East! We're definitely going to be taking advantage of the OTCs as well. You chasing whitetails or muledeer on the deer tag?

Muleys during Sept. archery season, and then a late-season, "archery-only" for whitetails.

That's nice to have both species close enough hunt. We've got a bit of a drive from here to get after any good whitetails. The elk hunting makes up for the lack of whitetails, though. Ironically my muledeer tag this year is right next to one of my good whitetail spots, but with the controlled hunt tag it's muledeer only. Since you can buy an OTC whitetail tag in the same unit, I don't really understand why they don't give you both species when you score the draw tag. Be my luck to find a big whitetail buck in there, and have to pass, ha!

If I get the camping spot I want, this will be the view breaking off into Hells Canyon:

Man I haven't been hunting in years ( other than coyote). This thread is making me have that itch!

Any deer hunting back there in VA? Or maybe some bear and fox to go with the coyote? I've never got to spend any time that far East.

Yep! Got deer and black bear! Fox I'm not sure on the hunting regulations but they're here! I used to hunt coyotes for the bounties that certain counties put up and private equestrian facilities that usually did as far as I know no kill fox hunts and the fox would live? But coyotes would come in and start killing all the fox and their food sources. Pa,Wva,Md all have some good hunting spots too I grew up hunting in Pa and lived and hunted Md and would also hunt west va since it was so close.

Looks like good chukar country as well (my other obsession)! Good luck out there HK, and keep us posted!

Here's a view of a small slice of my hunting country:

Ended up having a lot more rain this morning than what was called for, but I managed to draw 'first blood' of the season, and bring home a tasty dinner. :D

if you have that view from camp , scoring an animal would be just a bonus.

That's the way I look at it as well. I'm still hoping for a big bonus though :D

There are a few chukar there, but it's better a little closer to home along the Snake River. Did you score a ruffed with traditional equipment?? Nice!

Never did any bird hunting other than turkey...got turkey here too. Looks like a good time for some tasty critters though. I should note that coyote hunting even for bounties is usually not effective and ends up causing more problems than if possible other steps had been taken. This is 1 of the reasons I don't do it anymore. But anyway I'm hoping to move to VT next year so new area, laws, game, ect. Should be cool.

We've got a few turkey around here as well. I've still got one special permit in my pocket for this fall.

That Sir is a nice looking bird! And is that a samurai under that guy? I got as I guess another 2 years before I can hunt due to medical reasons but that's enough time to scout a new area and find my future spots the gf won't field dress and butcher game or go with me to drag anything out...lol...city girl. But there is always fishing!

Sorry to hear about the medical problems. A couple of years to scout could pay off big, though. And yes, that's a Samurai under there, lol. That thing is pretty great fun in some areas, and when it's upright, ha :D

Thanks man. Yeah awhile to scout should pay off and with moose up there I'm a bit thrown never delt with them just know their mean when rut comes and im pretty sure I need a bigger rifle..lol. Looks like you did a good job on that rig! Those are great on trails their so small and can get places jeeps can't. Once I get set up there you should come and do some hunting put in for a moose tag!

Thanks. I've taken ruffies with my bow before, but this one is a fat blue grouse. Here's another one I took the following day:

And a nice gobbler in that pic as well!

I got a late season bull moose draw. Archery season is open here now. After a long summer I'm looking forward to some hunting!

I've never seen a moose except on tv. I don't know if I'll ever put in for a tag on 1, but man I'd love to see someone take 1. Congrats on the moose tag Bruce and a bull to my understanding those are a prize?.
