Anybody else get this email?

Send him an email back next time saying that his check wasnt enough after an exchange fee and import taxes or something like that, and you need more money.

this is scary stuff,i am new to the fourm and the net. is this common?

Its all over on and off of the net. Telephone scams acting as a court where you missed your jury duty and they demand your SSN. Guys on craigslist that come to look at a bike one day and come back that night and steal it, people who write fake checks or money orders and leave you with no merchandise or money, virus's that take your personal info or CC numbers whne you order goods on the net. Scamming has taken off in every guise and form en masse within the last few years and then some. People will stop at nothing to make an easy buck, or steal something else from another.

Just use your head out there.

I had two similar emails back before Christmas. One from "Gary Roberts" and the other from "Sarah Anderson". Both used yahoo addresses. I didn't get contacted by Sarah until I filed a complaint with yahoo and they turned off Gary's email.

My email was identical. It struck me as odd to have such poor grammer from an English speaking country so I had no qualms in putting it straight in the recycle bin.

Maybe I shouldn't, but I no longer ship anything overseas. I had such a headache with the last one that I decided it just isn't worth the trouble.
I got into this business to simplify my life and may be going too far but at least so far have been able to stay busy with domestic orders anyway.

Yup, just got the same one from Mr Phard Murray. I did not recognize the name of the other customer he mentioned. Scam Dam

I think next time one of these Scams comes my way. I'll just tell the person to go ahead and send it. Then pester them about why the check hasn't arrived then tell them to put a stop payment on the first check and send me second and so on and so on. Until they get the message. Or I will thank them graciously for the "tip" as that's what overpayment is in my books. In a check or MO form overpayment has to be deliberate.
Mainly I just want the souvenir. I've never been given a Multi- Million Dollar check
But alas now that I'm waiting for it to happen it never will

I sure am glad we have the internet these days where people can get info about things like this happening and be able to protect themselves.

Thanks for being here. I have received several e-mails from Phard Murray and Grave McFly and decided to do a google search. Blade Forum was one of the results. Thanks to those that had previously responded about receiving e-mails from these persons I was saved considerable time and aggravation. I am now a registered member of BladeForums.

Has anyone heard the name Kenneth Zweerink?? From the UK.

I've gotten a very similar email offer with other things I have sold. Those along with the 1 million dollars U.S. that someone wants to send me because a millionaire with no heirs died and there is no one to claim the money. blah blah blah. Whats sad is there are actually people that fall for these scams otherwise they wouldn't be attempting it...

Welcome to Blade Forums, this is a good place to spend time. I'm glad this post has helped.

My spam filter usually catches the 'Free Money' stuff but McFly's email got through and I figured it wouldn't hurt to see if it was legit. Although I had a feeling it was a scam.

Yeah, that's good. Think I'll ask for another cheque :D

Hey Don, After he sends you the second check tell him Obama JUST passed a knife exportation tax and you'll still need even more money (apoligize that his order cannon be backogged under the old laws because its to be applied retroactively and you cant do anything on it). Just toy with him, and see how many checks you can get out of him. THe more you make this asshat run around and the more money he spends making up these fake checks the harder you slam it back to him.

That or look up the address of you handy danday local FBI office that deals with fraud and scammers and tell him your address has changed, and you'll need it to be sent there while you move your shop. Give him detailed instructions on how to send the check (IE so the feds can get the idea is a scammers check) and his return mailing address so you know where the knife should be sent to.

Oh and post his replies. This could get priceless.
