I was wondering if anyone else has had delayed packages lately. I just had to blow some steam here . About 2 weeks ago I had a 3 day select package on its way to me and it took 6 days. Well, someone sent me a package on August 2 and it came all the way from Ohio to Greensboro and back to Ohio. I called and they said it was accidentally misrouted twice in the past 6 days. Now they tell me it will definitely be delivered tomorrow  I believe that as much as I believe pigs fly :D Anyone else have any problems with them?

Last Tuesday a package left Ohio (coincidentally), and was to be delivered here on Thurs.
Thursday afternoon, after UPS had run (I was waiting to sign for it, but the big brown truck just drove on by:(), I put the tracking # in on their website. Status:exception - damaged in transit:mad:

I called UPS (twice, the first person who "helped" me barely spoke English); they wouldn't give me the number of the distribution center, but informed me that the sender would be contacted, and the package inspected and returned to him (the package was in town-twenty minutes away).
I contacted the shipper, who had not heard from UPS.
He contacted them. They promised to call him back within the hour. They didn't call back.
He called them the next day, and they gave him a # to call (for me).
I called, asking about my package.
They had lost it.
They would call me back within the hour.
Two hours later, I got in my truck, and called them on the cell phone:
"Have you found my package?"-"No."-"Well, start looking, because I'm on my way."
They had not found it when I got there (I doubt they even looked). Along with the lady who I had spoken to on the phone, I went through the shelves and floats full of packages, myself.
Finally found it. One corner was buckled:rolleyes:. No damage to speak of.
Signed for it, and left.

I'm just happy that I got my stuff, and was really surprised that they let me go through all their packages.
Lots of hassle, though-for nothing.
Very frustrating....but it all worked out in the end.

I never use UPS for that reason Mike. I have never had a problem with good old US Mail! The best way is to ship is overnight... If it doesn't get there, you get your money back, and the delivery is free. One time I shipped an overnight on the 3rd of July, and it was delivered on the 4th. Another point... Overnight parcels carry automatic insurance of $500.

Sure have. I recently had one order take 10 days and another took 8. Seriously thinking of switching to priority mail.

Through the years, I've had so much trouble with UPS that I quit using them. If I'm shipping, I use Fedex or USPS Priority Mail. If I'm placing an order I specify the order is to be shipped via Fedex or US mail. If the supplier insists on shipping via UPS, I don't place the order and go elsewhere to shop. It works. :)

No more packages left below the downspout in the driveway. On one occasion, UPS left a $900 digital camera in my driveway just below the downspout in a driving rain. The camera was literally floating by the time I found it. Guess that was the decision maker for me. Have also had packages criss-cross the state of Tennessee enroute to my daughter in Memphis . . . they don't do that since I switched to Fedex!

So, yes, Michael . . . some of us have had plenty of difficulty with UPS . . . to the extent we just don't use them any more. IMHO, it's the only defense.

Both Ups and USPS have got me this week.

UPS- Had a package leave Florida 3 Day select on 8/2, I still don't have it. I was told it was "re-routed incorrectly". Well, no Sh*t, Sherlock.

USPS- I sent a package to Ohio via Priority Mail (should have taken 2 days)on 8/3, receiver just got it yesterday.

If I had the finances to start up my own deliery service and made on time delivery my number one priority, I could be a millionaire.

Actually guys, I think this is regional because my UPS Service is TIP TOP shape, and the Mail is HORRIBLE. I've never had a problem with Fed-Ex and for shipping extremely valuable stuff, they're probably the way to go, but for the mundane it becomes a matter of cost then...

I am currently in process of trading knives with Jaxurman. I asked my friend in San Francisco to send the knife by UPS to Ohio where Jaxurman lives. He sent it on July 25th. On August 3rd the knife arrived to Ohio, but for some reason was sorted incorrectly and sent back to some city in California. After they realized it was a wrong adress they sent it back to San Francisco and supposedly it it's on the way to Ohio again. Today is August 8th and Jaxurman still has not recieved the knife. This is my experience with UPS. By the way once somebody sent me a knife from US by UPS and they charged me a huge brokerage fee in addition to all the taxes I have paid to Canadian customs.

I ALWAYS ship via USPS Priority Mail, with Delivery Confirmation, and I have NEVER had a problem, and have even had packages delivered CLEAR ACROSS the country in TWO days (at a cost of about $4.00)!.:).

I'm with Don - UPS down here is pretty good and there is much to be desired with USPS. Though, one time I did have a package sent from CA that was delayed. Not much bitching I could do, it was sent regular ground service and they don't guarantee delivery on the day it is forcasted. Other than that, I've had very good sevice and luck with them. Same thing with FedEx too, but I only use them only if the recipient requests to.

USPS just takes too damn long. Get this - it took a total of 4 days for a package to reach me that was sent from Charlotte, NC which is about 2 hours from me. Ohhhhh-K......I could jump in my car and DRIVE to the sender's residence to pick up the contents myself and be back at my house in about 5 hours max.... Where in the hell do they route these things to? New Jersey???

I'm telling you... Overnight is the best!:) Just $15, and it goes anywhere in the country with $500 insurance. The best thing about it is it can't get lost, because it's always in somebodies hand. They will deliver on Sunday also. Try getting UPS to deliver on saturday... impossible!

You can get UPS to deliver on Saturday to you........pending you have it shipped "Saturday Next Day Air".....of course it cost you out the whah-zoo tho, and to be honest, those part time air-drivers on Saturday do not seem to make much effort if they do not know hwere the location is :(

I guess that is why so many people are moving to CO. I have never had a problem with USPS or UPS, the UPS lady delivers my packages with a smile and a "Thank You" and the USPS lady is likewise friendly. I guess it's the only good thing about CO. :D ;) :p

I just got 2, "3day selects" via UPS from California & Idaho in 2 days....no problems here, with a very friendly smile from the UPS dude ;)

I have been bitching about UPS for years! I've heard both sides of the arguments, (UPS vs. USPS), and can tell you I've used USPS literally dozens of times and have only had ONE bad experience and that was simply that the package I sent was late. I've used UPS twice and had bad experiences BOTH TIMES, (packages late AND crushed)!

I think that it may be a regional problem as well. Although we are a newer knife company, we have shipped several hundred packages with UPS with very good results and no lost or damaged shipments (knock on wood). We have also had very positive results with USPS Priority mail and give our customers that option if they prefer it.

UPS is a waste of time and money in my book. I never send anything thru them anymore. If it's too big or expensive to go USPS, I send it FedEx. For overseas shipment, unless the buyer asks different I go FedEx. They're very reasonably priced and very dependable. I don't know whats happened top UPS but they sure have gone down the proverbial toilet. Even contacting their management to let them know somethings wrong is useless. I guess they got too big.
