Anybody else into Classic Rock?

In, my hand are tickets for Styx in october, INXS August and Sum41 in Oct.

Styx is the only one to fall into the "Classic" title but I'm pretty pumped about my three concerts I have coming up

I am 28, so my era of music was hip hop and alternative rock. Beastie Boys, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Metallica etc. That doesn't mean my favorite type of music is alt rock. I've been listening lately to a station out of Red Lion PA, 96.1, which has oldies from the 60's and 70's. Also been listening to a local station 100.7 the Bay. Classic rock station. I was in a motown groove for a while, now I'm into, well, not quite hair metal, but classic rock. It varies. I like Queens more outlandish stuff ;), the Eagles, Rolling Stones, although a lot of their stuff could be considered oldies. Trying to go with stuff from the 70's, uh, Lynyrd Skynrd is one of my favorite bands. There are lots of songs I like, but haven't gotten many full albums. Lots of the ones listed here.

I consider SRV to be a blues band, not classic rock. But then, ZZ Top is one of my faves.

Believe me, SRV rocked. I saw him open for Van Halen, they were hard pressed to follow him.
Some of the ones you named in the beginning of your post are now considered classic by some. Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Johnny Cash, Tool and Pink Floyd are probably my all time faves. (I'm a huge fan of the very early Bee Gees as well.:o)

My favorites are Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, the Doobie Brothers and Creedance.

Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Van Halen w/ Roth, Led Zep, AC/DC, Motorhead, Parlaiment/Funkadelic (funk but rock too), Rolling Stones, Cream, MC5, Deep Purple, the Stooges, Ramones and on, and on, and on.... These are only the 60's and 70's, get into the 80's and it gets worse. I love music, many styles, many bands, many eras.

I am also quite partial to bands named after geographical features: large countries, states, cities, continents, etc . . .

Asia ( :barf: )
Europe ( :barf: )
America ( :barf: )
Texas
Boston
Chicago

The Beautiful South (I was heartbroken when the Housemartins broke up, and an equally devastated now that the south have broken up).

I love virtually ALL music from metal to opera, with the exception of 99% of country, which I generally can't stomach. :-)

The majority of my music collection falls into the "classic rock" category, though. It would be impossible to try and pick just three artists from the '60s and '70s!

On the CD changer right now are discs from Rush, Neil Young, and ZZ Top.

Stay sharp,
desmobob

As long as its not death metal, I like it!

My favorite classic rock bands have to be Skynyrd (what else needs to be said), CCR and Pink Floyd. gotta give the Eagles some love also.

Great suggestions, guys.....it seems I really need to beef up my collection! :foot:
