Anybody ELSE just sick unto DEATH of carbon fiber scales?

Cool looking shirt!

No way, Aleforme. That shirt looks like carp!;)

Not trying to feed the trolls - this post makes a little more sense if the OP fell victim to autocorrect...
Take the R out of the first word
Swap the order of the R and the A in the second word.

I don't necessarily agree (two of my favorite knives are CF).
I am a huge fan of micarta too, even if it isn't a thermoplastic:D

I'm so used to the being no cursing in this forum, I read the OP and was laughing my butt off because I couldn't figure out how CF looked like shirt. Best laugh I've had all week.

In general terms, I have to go Micarta, G10, and then CF but, there are exceptions.

There have been many knives I have passed on because they were CF.

I generally agree, but I do like marbled carbon fiber and lightning strike carbon fiber.

But for the most part I like micarta better.

thunderstorm kevlar is growing on me too.

Just thinking - I was trying to figure out where the thunderstorm kevlar fits in the micarta vs carbon fiber equation.
Forgive my oversimplification - micarta is stacked layers of material (linen, denim, burlap) interfused with epoxy/resin. Isn't CF stacked layers of carbon fiber sheets in a resin as well? I realize there are manufacturing, pressure, epoxy/materials differences - but are they really that different?

Yup. Though you notice that it's all natural fibers.

Yup.

And G10 is just fiberglass impregnated with epoxy. Nah, they're not vastly different in their essentials but they are different enough that it is noticeable..

In these particular applications the differences come down to price and cosmetics. When you get into other applications CF's light weight and strength will kick in.

I carry a Carbon Fiber Spyderco Military in 52100 steel everyday. The Carbon Fiber scales are the same thickness as the regular Military it's just lighter.

The Grip of carbon fiber is also much better than G10 especially when wet and overall feels warmer in the hand and has better dry grip. If you polish Carbon Fiber it will be just like any other material that has been polished... it will be slick.

This is very true. Spyderco knocked it out of the park with the peel ply solid CF they used for the recent Military and PM2 sprints. The grip is great and the weight savings are noticeable. Plus it looks great IMO.

I'm loving CF, in most varieties. The smooth matte finish CF that ZT uses is awesome, I actually love the laminate Spyderco uses on the Sage1, GB, etc, and the contoured CF like the 484-1/940-1 is just perfect. Even the polished Rubicon was great IMO. The only time I don't like it is when it's finished poorly. Keep it coming!

What I think is missing is more linerless CF knives, like the ZT0770cf, or the recent 40th anniversary Native5.

I too really like CF -some examples of cf with grip would be guardian tactical helix nano and SG spider monkey.Great looking knives with very functional CF.

Not me! I just put these on my 707 Sequel.

I'd say I was sick of aluminum, but all I have left are the bolsters on my 581 Barrage.

I justlove we have more selection on knives, steels, handle material, etc, it cant be bad to have so many variants

I personally like the look of CF handles. Like someone else pointed out with the Gayle Bradley, I have a spyderco Dice that I love but I had to change out those cheap looking CF skin over g10 handles that looked like a turd (swapped to toxic kirinite).

I like full CF handles like the southern grind spider monkey

Has anyone seen the OP since he began this? It doesn't seem he drew the CF hatahs outta the woodwork. In fact, almost the opposite has occurred. I'll vote yes twice for CF. One of my all-time favorites that goes to work with me as often as not...

...great grip, wicked light, and a pretty handsome specimen to boot!
