OK, I bought 2 of these little folders at my local K-Mart on clearance awhile back, got them cheap and thought one would make a good "beater" and the other a gift. But the more I use this little guy, the more I am impressed. Good no slip grip, stout 3 inch blade...a real little gem.

Anyone else had good luck with one?

I had one a while back and really liked it. I have been wanting to get another as I have missed the one I gave away. I agree nice little folder.

...Hey TLC...I have a 450 in my weekly edc rotation for quite some time now. Darn nice little knife that gives all I want it to. Takes a great edge and holds it. Tough enough to put up with most anything I've asked of it so far...

 Love it!!

Wow...old threads never die!

BTW my 450 is still going strong, I have beat the crap out of it and it hasn't even started getting loose. For a synthetic handled folder it's one otugh little bugger!

I don't like the 450 because I cann't find one in my Buck-Collection. :D ;) :)

Best regards,
Herbert

And the 450 thread surfaces again.....

Just wanted to post a pic of my 450. It is one great knife. I was skeptical of the synthetic handle at first but it is solid with no flex.

Anyone know if Buck made the newer ones like that with just a plain edge and thumbstud?

I see a ton on Ebay, but don't recall seeing a PE version.

I see a lot without the thumbstud, both plain and serrated. Mine is a 450n which makes it a 2001. A quick web search turned up one online retailer (bestknives) that has 450FX (part serrated with thumbstud) listed for $19.95. They also have 450RD (plain edge, no thumbstud) for same price. Didn't find a plain edge with thumbstud.

My son has a 450n that he uses for hunting. It's taken care of a couple deer with no problem. Love the grip it gives you.

Along the same lines: a couple of years back I picked up an Ecco real cheap for a beater knife. Man, I have yet to beat it into submission. Very little blade play, great action, still locks tight. I ended up buying some for gifts. I still have the first one i bought, actually have it in my pocket right now and I kept one in the box for myself incase i ever destroy this one. You can still find them out there for dirt cheap...

I Checked The Catalog From 2004-2007. Plain Edge First Showed Up In 2005. No Thumb Stud On Plain Edge That I Can Find.

Plain Edge First Showed Up In 2005.

Uh...there's gotta be an error somewhere, my original post about the plain edge 450's I have was in December of 2004, and I bought them on clearance then.

They had to have been out before 2005.

Hey Confederate , You Are Right. I Rechecked The Cat. I Just Overlooked It In The 2004 Catalog. Sometimes Im Not Too Bright.

get us all every now and then.....what were we talking about???
...Just to toss a bit more mystery into the mix and to "brighten" up the discussion...I have a plain edge 450 with the "backwards slash" mark of a 1994 model...\...jus' like that mark......It's one of my EDC's and is tight as can be and sharper than a knife oughta be allowed to be...
