Anybody else looking at the CRKT Ikoma Carajas?

From time to time I feel drawn to a CRKT knife, but blade steel and country of origin turn me off, combined with quite a few cosmetic flaws and poor finish I saw on their folders when I used to own a knife shop (about 5 years ago).

I fully admit that country of manufacture shouldn't be an issue for most rational folks, it's pet peeve of mine. However, it would be nice to see some of CRKT's offerings in good steels (s30v or something like that). From what I've read, their QC is better than it was a few years back.

I honestly don't get the CRKT hate on quality. I haven't had any bad experiences with them. I have the M16 14F, the M16 14Z, the M16 13ZD and the M16 13Ti. All of which have flawless construction, nice early lock ups on the liners and comfortable detent. I did have to sharpen them out of the box because the factory edges were so so.

Maybe it's just the M16 series that's decent lol?

I woudn't say I "hate" CRKT for its quality level, my comments on spotty QC (or just low standards) come from buying A LOT of CRKT knives to sell at my shop. I inspected them and found a higher percentage of- mostly cosmetic- flaws than in other brands like Benchmade or Mcusta, which I also stocked (I know, different price points).

I remember a batch of Hammond Cruisers that was just awful, the scales were pretty badly fitted and grinds were a mess. I understand it's a $20 knife.

Anyway, like I said, this was a few years ago and they seem to be improving. I've even seen one or two of their knives with decent steel, like the Ken Onion Skinner a mate of mine bought for hunting.
