Anybody Else Use Bike Inner Tubes

Hi, my name is dante and I'm an inner tube addict...
From fixed blades and machetes to the handle of my AR-15

I love my Kabar Becker BK-7. I installed Micarta grips I got from Tomar's Kabars. The grip was still dangerously slippery when my hand gets wet or covered with fish guts. I solved the problem by getting some "3M" non slip tape, (the ruff gray stuff people put on steps). I cut a strip 2/16" wide and attached it to the top and bottom exposed edges of the tang between the grips.

i see you guys "slip" these on. but do you heat them to somewhat shrink wrap them against the handle?? also has anyone done this on a neck knife like an izula or becker necker?

I've been using hockey tape for better 'gription', but I like the inner tube idea. The only problem with the hockey tape is that it gets dirty easily, especially when the knife is used for hunting, and then needs to be re-wrapped. Here's my Rat-7 and Al Mar SERE Operator wrapped with hockey tape.

I do something similar, with bat tape.... see the red one.

Hockey tape is too sticky, but bat tape is just right...

Hikeeba, im digging that buck, the innertubes suit that Knife,
Hockey tape works just as good and can be taken off and applied much easyer, i know that the bike tubes will probably cost next to nothing but hockey tape is so cheap aswell.
and onother great thing is that you can get a choice of coulors too :D

I've used bat tape too. It does work good, and actually I think it's a little more grippy than hockey tape. I get the hockey tape for $1/roll in any color except black or white, because the hockey guys typically won't buy the tape in colors. I use colorful tape on the knife handles or orange scales (if I can find them), because I have a bad habit of putting my knives down when cleaning game on hunts and then not being able to find it right away. The orange, yellow, and red tape help a lot.

I use "ranger bands" for a whole holding a wide variety of different bits, they work great for getting a stubborn (read wet) fire going too :)

I cut tubes into 1/2 and 3/4 inch "ranger bands", and cut strips, anywhere from 3/8 to one inch. I've used several of those as underwraps on PSK knives

First thing I did today was purchase a road bike inner tube

if you ask nicely at a LBS, they may give you a tube that they've replaced on someone's bike.

it'll have a hole in it somewhere, but that hardy matters for uses like this.

asl fpr "dead" or "junk" innertubes and offer to chop it in half, or just tell them it's for a project. bike shops almost never patch tubes, but frequently sell new tubes and install them.
