Anybody else what to see more "Waved" models

I read somewhere that the waved models will be discontinued sooner rather than later due to prospect of illegality. I think all but the plain edged delicas have been discontinued. Don't know about the enduras.

Sal told us at the spyder meet that the waved spyders would not be in production forever.
So he advised us if you want a waved delica/endura buy one.

So new knives will not be made with the wave feature.

I bought a waved delica the week after the spyder meet;).
I really like it and it's very fast:thumbup:.
It will also eat your pockets:D.

Is this true? When will they phase out the waves?

I've never been attracted to the wave concept, but I'm sorry to hear they're going away, esp over the generic anti knife concerns if that's what it is.

I’m not a huge fan of the ‘waves’. On a few models, sure, but on most models, no. I don’t believe they are really that useful and, IMO, the wave just takes away from the aesthetics of the blade. I mean, the ‘Spyder-hole’ makes opening the knife pretty fast as it is. I just don’t like the aesthetic look of the wave and I can’t justify loosing aesthetics for a couple split-seconds!

The FFG delica/endura is a really thin knife to begin with, and taking that much more off if to me seems like it would greatly compromise the blade's strength...

i'd looooove to see a waved millie, with a 4-way clip. Orange or digi-camo scales. S30v, or cpm-m4, or s90v. I'm pretty sure i'd never keep up with any sort of edc rotation with that knife. I'd drop a couple hundred on it, easily.

yessssss! +1!

I've never felt the need to have a waved knife. I can open it faster than one of my autos using the spyder hole. That's fast enough for me. After doing it a dozen or more times a day since 92 it tends to be a smooth, fluid movement. It doesn't eat up clothes either doing it the conventional way.

Same here sir. It's second nature to me as well. I've danced with other ladies since my first endura in 93...I'm carrying a spyderco now.

What about a waved Police 3, Military and Chinook? I have these 3 models but a waved option would be great as far as I'm concerned.

I waved a Police 3 (and had it double edged) and a Chinook. I sold the Chinook a bit over a year ago, but still have the Police.

I'd love to see more waved folders. At least one of the folders I carry everyday is waved. I'm currently carrying a CS Spartan and Black Talon (I waved the Talon).

I have a fully serrated Spyderco Harpy with carbon fiber handles. It is truly a beautiful knife! After seeing an identical knife here on the forums that STR did a wave mod on I knew I had to have one. Hoping I wouldn't have to use my discontinued sprint-run model I submitted a concept drawing of a Harpy, with the addition of a wave and a finger choil, to Spyderco for consideration... After impatiently waiting several weeks I received a reply saying they were not interested in my idea... I guess that if they really plan on phasing out the waved models that might explain their lack of interest in what I thought would have been one awesome little knife. :(

i dont know how a waved ffg delica or endura would wor. because the tip would be even thinner and fragile

Too bad it sounds like they will discontinue waved spydies :(

Oh well, I have a waved Delica and of course this beauty :)

Unless Emerson changed their mind about licensing their wave opener, I suspect that, if Spyderco discontinues any given waved model it will be due to limited interest and slow sales rather than legal issues. Nothing lasts forever, especially fads.
