I just saw the Tom Brown Tracker #2 today and I already want to buy it. The thing is before I buy it, does anybody have one and can tell me how it performs. Thanks you

I've never used one, but I read in a few posts that people think they're not worth the $$. I'd just do a search of the forum if I were you.

I've never actually used one out in the field myself either, but I have handled one and thought quite hard about what use it might serve if I were to invest in one myself. The best way I can describe my feelings about the knife is to quote my own words as posted on another forum....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a Tops Tom Brown Tracker sent to me so I could make a custom leather sheath for it, which I did. To be honest having handled the thing but not used it in the field, I would guess that I can think of at least 3 good uses for it. (1) As a tyre lever for a Land Rover or tractor. (2) For hammering in tent pegs or nails, (3) As an anchor for the canoe.

If I wanted to cut something, I'd prefer to use a knife.

I fondled the full-sized one (is that the #1) in the knife shop a couple of times. I couldn;t get excited about it, although it is fun to imagine that you're stranded somewhere and you're able to save your life with all the gizmo-matic things the mind conjures up that this thing can do.

Very high-priced "do everything" knife. Give me a good, solid, sharp 4" fixed blade knife and a camp axe, and I'm better off. In fact, make it a sharp 2-1/2" to 3" fixed blade, and even better off still.
