Anybody get the Ganza #23 Satin Ratmandu Bowie yet?

The only thing better than roses on your piano is a Swamp Rat on your organ? That's not right, hang on..

Are these blades not just AWESOME!!!? I can't decide if I should try and keep mine nice and shiny, or do a forced patina to prevent rust. I am leaning toward a multi-phase forced patina (mustard, ketchup, etc.), but I'm just not sure quite yet. Will do before/after pictures. Might play with it tonight before I decide for sure. Can't wait to get this onto the belt sander to give it a sweet convex! :D

Who else that won one of these is also going to go for one of the LE's tomorrow?

Count this shark out of the tank on the LE, monthly knife budget went towards a Sage 4. Regrets? I've had a few.. Good luck!

Forced patina? Didn't cross my mind. I was mesmerized by the finish on these. Looking forward to see what you decide.
Yep, I am in on the RMD LE any 1 of 300. Too good to pass up, if I don't get one I will regret it. Only logical solution is to get in on pre-order tomorrow evening.

I like the shiny finish of the satin SR101, but it will be a royal pita to keep it that way over the course of it's life. Since I actually plan to use mine, I want to do something to it to help prevent rust. I am giving some consideration to giving the whole blade a warm vinegar bath, for a nice, even gunmetal grey finish. Maybe then do some kind of a patterened mustard purely for cosmetics. I'm just not sure yet.

I know I really shouldn't order one, but I am going to get in on the LE e-mail preorder. Like Need2Know said, too good to pass up. I am sure these will be easy enough to sell at a later date at no loss should I change my mind.

Yep, great thing about most all the limited release items is that you usually don't lose much (if anything) when/if you ever decide to part with them.

Heres a khukri I forced a patina on with vinegar soaked papertowel for about 30 minutes. The pattern of the papertowel made it look like snakeskin on the blade

After use the snakeskin look has worn away but a light grey dull patina still protects the blade.

Well, I finally received mine yesterday, along with the hollow ground RS. It is my first RMD and I love it. My wife wants it though, so I may have to get another one or more.

It matches my BWM LE based bowie very nicely.

Awesome knives, guys.
AZTimT, that BWM LE Bowie variant is über nice.
drbarner, excellent pieces. Dual satin Wakis, say what??? Is that a Billiards table upon which they be posin'??
And thank you for the forced patina pic, like the pattern. I really like the shine of satin, but know it will need upkeep.

Need2know - the blue satin waki was proxied for a buddy, but I couldnt resist gettin em both for a pic! I used white vinegar soaked cheapo papertowel - because the design on the papertowel will transfer to the blade. Let it sit in the sink tip down for about a half hour then removed the papertowel and rinsed it off, when i rinsed it some of he darker grey patina washed off. Next time i do it ill probably let it sit for anoher 10-15 minutes before rinsing it after i take the papertowel off.

I dig that patina pattern, something to consider if I decide to mix things up a bit. Shiny Satin has my attention right now.
You and your buddy are lucky guys, these satin Wakis are damn sexy.

I see you went non-serrated Bowie, I wonder which was more popular, with or without serrations?
