anybody got an address on this guy??

Forum member "joeshredd" has contact info for Alan available by e-mail. Apparently Alan likes to keep a low profile, so joeshredd didn't post the contact info here.

Thanks Josh,

Man I love this forum!

Hollowdweller, it's the best looking neo khukuri I've seen. Did the article give any dimensions on the rig? I'd be curious to see what the dimensions actually are. My crude measurements off the screen shows a ratio of handle to blade of around 1:3. If we assume a five inch handle this would give us a fifteen inch blade and twenty inches overall for the rig. I also don't see any fullers on the picture which makes me wonder how thick the blade is. My favorite Dehradoon model is a hefty 7/16" thick 12" long blade which wears me out after a while so I would think this one couldn't be much more than 1/4" in order to be manageable for any length of time. What do you think?

Hey,

Somebody posted this cool pic of a neo khukuri over on the wilderness forum. Supposedly the guy's name is Alan Boruck and he lives in Oregon, but the poster didn't post the address and a web search turned up noting. Anybody have any leads on an address? Nice looking setup huh??

If you can track down the source of that Kuk would you let us know if one can be ordered? I really like that hanshee style spine curvature.

Thanks

That would be me...I wanted the squarish handle so the khukuiri wouldn't roll or twist in my hand. I always found that the pointy part in the middle of the traditional handle dug into my hand, so I went with the squarish handle, but had to round off the edges of the square so they wouldn't dig into my hand. I a found that the handle design I ended up with gave me a very good grasp and I could chop for some time without the knife twisting in my hand or digging into my hand...but I have fairly large hands.

It took me just about as long to make the sheath as it did to make the knife. Blade material started at .25 inch thick. Sheath is carved pine covered with leather. Eventually I ended up giving the Kukuri to my friend Vasko just outside Portland.

I didn’t see the pic of it and the link says link can’t be found…

Unfortunately I don't have a photo of it...I gave it to Vasko over ten years ago. Bowies and Khukuris are my favorite knife shapes. IIRC I have made around a half dozen khukuri's and maybe 15-20 Bowies. When I made my last move, I had to get rid of my grinders, anvil, forge, forge tools and belt grinder..I don't have a knife shop at my new house so in the ten or 12 years since I moved here I have only made around a half dozen bowies with files a drill and the occasional use of a drill press from my brother.

That is a HELL of a lot to give up. Sorry.
Thanks for replying.
