I was looking over the Spyderco 2009 catalog and the only model that caught my eye was the Rock Lobster from Anso. Anybody had a chance to handle this thing yet. It looks interesting. It's between this or a Military for my Spyderco purchase. Thanks.

This is a Pre Order for the Brand New Spyderco Rock Lobster Folder, it has Foliage Green G10 Handles and an S30V Stainless Steel Blade.

This Knife will begin shipping in September and is first come first serve. We have 48 on order.

Rock lobster!!?!?!?!?

I really like it, I may or may not pick one up, but it will definitely be a while as I've got alot of other stuff I like more. However if they made a "Salt Lobster" with a spyder edge I would probably be all over it as I would love one for my sailing knife.

I got excited when you said S30V, but upon closer inspection in the catalog it says VG-10. :thumbdn:

I wonder why they didn't go with the large spyderhole either?

Sounds like a certain vendor needs to be corrected (and on closer inspection, said vendor isn't exactly reliable)

Honestly the hole is more than large enough for me. It's a pretty decently large knife.

Ugh! That things ugly as butt! Ill bet it cuts like a laser beam though.....Good ol spyderco.

What's wrong with VG-10? (noob here)

Nothing, some people prefer it for its ease of sharpening and the ultrafine edge it takes, but then again some people prefer s30v for its edge holding and the fact that most spydercos with s30v are made in Golden, Colorado, USA, Earth. It's all a matter of personal preference.

i like it! would be nice to see a big chopper shaped like the rocklobster too! say around 20"
