I've got a Busse knife in my collection that -IIRC- was a special edition made for Bladeforums more than 10 years ago. The grips are rubber and molded onto the tang. Blade is black coated ad there's an exzellent Kydex sheath with the knife. The blade is very long, like a machete almost. Full flat grind and I believe the steel is Busse's proprietary alloy. Does anybody recall these knives and know when and how many were made? I can post pics if needed. Thanks!

Will do, it'll take me a day or so. I was hoping somebody might also have one or remember when they were done. I believe there was only one small run made and sold.

Without seeing...... Wasn't the 1311 done that way?

I know “very long” is subjective & this isn’t a black blade (tanker gray) but Is it this? (Basic 11)

It appears there were two different handles, bottom one is resin & not sure about top one:

Both are Res-C. Bottom handle is the original Basic line handle, top is the newer redesigned handle. The original handle molds were lost or destroyed, leading to the 2nd gen handle version, & the last of the original handles left in the shop went on B11's.

The blade is about 9 3/4 inches long. It does look like a version of the Basic 11. The blade is unmarked only the grips have the molded in Busse Combat. The Kydex sheath is very well made and has a lot of carry options. The black coating on the blade looks like powder coating. Mine has a scuff in the finish which again IIRC, is the result of cutting a piece of cardboard. So I would not say the finish is very durable. Here's a few pics!

Thank you for the info, it's a big help. I do recall now that I see it, that this was from the Basic series. I had forgotten that until reading it here. Now I know it's the Basic 9. The Kydex work is really first rate, holds up in design and quality to anything made today too. I reckon you're right and it could be 20 years old. I'll see 70 myself before I see 60 again... ouch. How time flies when you're making knives!

As others already said, B9. I think the sheath was made by on scene tactical back in the day. Same sheath that originally came with battlemistress and steel hearts. Very cool knife. I've owned a bunch.

I wish he still made sheaths. Definitely some of my favorites.

The sheath for the knife is fantastic, well designed and very well made.

Yes, after having owned over 100 of those sheaths, I can say that there were many that weren't a perfect fit and rattled. But overall they were good. Dave B makes much sturdier kydex and others do as well.
