Anybody know of a good everyday tactical knife?

I see you don't like asian made knives, but here is a cheap one for you to look at...http://cgi.ebay.com/Stiletto-Assist...tem&pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item3a541ebe02

I edc a similar one, just different color, and different "medallion"...for why I suggest it, see this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=752444

Hehe, that guy has a similar problem to me but I'm not in the big city. The knife you recomended is pretty cool, somewhat cheap like you said and made in Asia :(

For future reference, you can use that little button with the "+ signs on it next to the QUOTE button to quote multiple people, just hit that button for every post you'd like to quote, and on the last one hit QUOTE. And you can have it all done in one neat little post :)

Also, just to get our terminology straight Assisted Open is actually a specific opening design where there is some sort of spring or torsion bar that snaps your blade open once you start opening it. Knives with thumbstuds or Spyderco holes are generally just referred to as one handed openers, or tactical knives, or just plain pocket knives.

Thanks, I'm new to blade forums. And yes, one handed openers is kind of what I'm looking for, if not spring assisted.

The Zero Tolerance 0350 somebody mentioned would be a great choice, I've got other ZT knives and rarely carry them because of the bulk (they are awesome, though). My 0350 gets a lot of pocket time. It's fast, strong and the blade shape is really practical. For around $100 it's a great buy.

If you haven't tried a Spyderco out, you really owe it to yourself to get one. There are loads of models that would fit your needs, lately I've been using my Manix 2 a lot. It's a bargain at around $80 (154CM blade, ball bearing lock, G-10). Lovely size (not too big, not too small) and really well thought out design.

The Kershaw blur is really nice, and goes for under $50 on ebay :)

i actually bought 2 of the black ones from a member here who sells kershaw factory blemishes for low prices, you can see if he still has any in stock.

kershawguy will be able to give you a good deal on an assisted kershaw

the model is 1670TBLKST for the tanto version, the other one he has is drop point. he has them listed for a good price. he has some of his knivs listed on ebay, i see the black ones there for the same price.

also i see he is selling the kershaw packrat, that is also a nice looking assisted opener.

Spyderco Military or Endura. You can get one from one of the boys here for around 100 bucks or less, and they'll flip open about as quick as an assisted with just a little practice.

Hands down, Benchmade 913 Nitrous Stryker. Darn near as capable as a Sebenza for ~$100 on the street. In fact I found one for less if you want to PM me.

How sharp is the blade? Is it double edged or has just 1 sharp edge?

thanks man...usually when I recommend a cheap chinese knife like this I get slammed for it...

the blade did come sharp, but I touched it up anyways...it is only sharpened on one edge. Its an assisted opening, liner lock, deep pocket, tip up carry, and has a glass breaker on the end.

like I said in the thread I posted a link to previously, I edc a knife just like this (only different color and "medallion"). If you buy one, make sure you thread-lock the axle screw otherwise it will loosen up from use.

The most tactical looking assisted folders you can get are the ZT 0300 series knives.

I don't get angry at people about the knives suggested to me lol, no problem. I actually looked at those knives a while ago, and was thinking about getting one but of course I hesitated. Thanks, they seem pretty cool as an EDC, I might just get myself one.

Those are really nice looking, they go for around $110 which is a bit above my price range but I might be able to find a way to get one :)

Oh I forgot to ask do you have any clue about the material of the blade? If you aren't sure thats ok lol.

Actually the 0300 series retails for around $235.00. You're probably thinking of the 0200.

The blemished 1725SG2, a JYDII in Ti & SG2, is available from a great source here on Blade Forums for $79 shipped. Well, I guess they were - he has to run out some day! Below is my production version - long gone even from the secondary market now. It's on the far right - and belongs there with those other Ti framelocks as to quality & value.

The blem differs from the production variant by being a fraction of the latter's cost, having unequal lamination lines, and having no box or warranty (They will send replacement springs, screws, etc., gratis.). Of course, production versions ran out years ago. It's probably the 'most' you can get for the price.
