I hate asking this and starting threads like this but I've been looking for a XM for over a week with not much luck. Theres money in my paypal account which is rare and I want to find one before I buy something else. Looking for a XM-18 3.5" flipper, gen. 4 with slicer grind. I've found a couple non flippers which I'm not really interested in.

EDIT: I found and purchased a beauty. Pictures below!

I reccomend you consider adding a WTB message that shows up each time you post. Many do this.
I just hope you find one that you won't complain about. Like pivot issues you discussed here and elsewhere on BF and other issues that arise for you on popular knives.

I have made a WTB thread with no such luck in finding one.

You've never had an issue with a "popular" knife? Is this forum not here to educate and help knife enthusiasts? I appreciate your comment! :D

I dumped my recently acquired XM24, it was to big for me and I figure the XM18 bcause of the smaller and lighter blade might be smoother and easier to flip.

And if you're talking about this thread as well,

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ly-lock-up-on-my-large-seb-Updated-with-a-pic!

It seems like a pretty legitimate issue if you read through.

toosolid,
Whenever you or anyone posts a question or issue on BF, a wealth of valuable information is generously provided. It is overall good for the forums and the knife community.
All I am saying is that you seem to find an issue with most every knife you have posted about recently.

The only 2 issues was with the hinderer (which I now know that the pivot was too tight). When I sold it back to whom I bought it from he said "wow you really tightened the pivot!". I didn't have the proper tool and thought that I had losened it lol.

The second issue was with my sebenza's lock up which you can see in the picture I provided is a legit issue. I may just have had an unlucky week!

I do appreciate everyone giving their input, but when I had sold the XM I honestly forgot about the thread I had started! No harm meant to anyone and I'm sorry if you were offended.

I've recently become a knife collector and am still learning the basics, so excuse my ignorance.

No need for appologies, let's just move on to more productive topics and discussion.
Best of luck on your Hinderer hunt, the 18 3.5 will serve you well. It is my primary EDC (Spanto, Flipper).
Slicer grinds make for excellent EDCs too.

Yeah Man:thumbup: As for finding some, there was one available last I looked on my favorite Dealer site (listed on Hinderers website) they go quick though.
There has been a steady flow here on the Forum as well.

Thanks guys! I actually think I found one for $725 net. It's a like new gen. 4 slicer. After shipping to Canada and customs fees I'll probably be around $825-$850. Not to bad!

K. Cool. Just helpin' ya out. IcksNay on the Moohlahyah. We no talk $$.:)

More research less posting the same threads every new comer posts. We have all been there before and in a few months you'll be the one giving the new comers advice.

I purchased a like new XM-18 3.5" slicer grind about an hour ago for a great deal. I should have it mid next week. For now I'll show you the sellers pictures. He applied a slight polish to the stonewashed titanium handle, which I think suits it well. Tomorrow I'll also be purchasing a black G10 handle along with a Hinderer tool so I can properly adjust if needed. What do you guys think of the handle? Honesty is appreciated!

Looks nice, love the slicer, although I would say that the handle appears to have been sanded and not just a "slight polish" in my opinion.

Also think it looks nice but, like RDA, I'd say either a fine sanding or Scotchbite. Either way, I don't think a finish can be applied to a Hinderer to make it look bad. It is, however, PIMPED!

Some folks like the sandblasted look over stone washed. Seems this gent may have been looking for that effect. . No matter as long as you like the look. Especially if it will actually be used.
Myself included, I sometimes think we in the knife community lose sight of what these things are -knives. Tough Rugged knives but tools never the less. I buy expensive tools all the time, even guns. I focus mostly on functionality with all my tools.
Bottom line. It's a good looking knife.

I should have elaborated on my "pimped" comment. I personally would not care because I can't fathom needing to send an XM back for a warranty issue. But pimping a knife voids the warranty and since I believe you sell a lot of your knives I just thought you should be aware (I'm sure you are) to disclose that upon a resale.

(I think I had two posts in a row that had the last word of one line doubled up. Anyone know why this happens?)

If it was "sanded" as opposed to sandblasted or mediablasted, I believe they were going for more of the "satin" look that you see when Hinderer Knives sands the flats of the blade or the lockside (resulting in a very nice satin finish).

It's definately clean looking. I think I would ask the prior owner exactly what he did so the process can be replicated when the inevitable scratch occurs and will now show being as the tumbled/stone wash "scratches" have been removed.

Here's what the seller told me, which I was fully aware of before purchasing.

"As far as the polishing goes, I had a collision repair friend polish the stonewashed finished very very lighty just to give it a cleaner brighter finished look."
