nah...I catch & release....my wife has eaten groundhog but neither of these two!!!!!!!

I use a Have-a-Heart in the largest size. Got everything from raccoons down to rats and squirrels.

Catch and release live trapping? To each his or her own I suppose.

To paraphrase the late Mitch Hedberg "So you don't want to eat the furry ground mammals, you just want to make them late for something".

Maybe you could get a trail cam and put it low to the ground?

Long as you keep putting food in the trap they will keep getting in it, I had a few coons that I could almost call up to feed. I lived in a run down cabin in Fontana NC and had a skunk that would bang the screen door for me to feed him, when I opened it he would go to his bowl and wait on me. Before anyone says anything, yes, I know the dangers of feeding wildlife. Chris

I eat raccoons and they are very good, one of my favorite game animals as a matter of fact.

I would not eat a possum unless I was starving. :barf::barf: I do not eat carrion eaters. Chris

It's all fun and games until someone gets sprayed by a skunk! ;)

that's what they make a .22 lr for, I was watching a show with the wife about skunks and they said to mix peroxide, baking soda, and washing detergent to neutralize the smell....

You shoot him and he will spray for sure, there is only one way I know of to kill a skunk without him spraying and it is pretty cruel.

I haven't found anything, or mixture of anything, that will kill skunk spray, yes my wife has made me sleep in the garage before. :o Chris

I vote kill 'em all when it comes to coons and opossums. Too many of those damn things running around being a nuisance.

My wife got sprayed by a skunk a few years ago. Let me tell you, we tried every piece of advice that we've ever heard (and some we just made up) to get her to smell less gag inducing. None of them worked very well. They all took away a bit of the odor but she still stank like something from the pits of hell. I think it took two full days before I could approach her without wanting to hurl. Our dog got the worst of it. She whimpered for almost a week straight.

Yep, my experience too. Chris

We used box traps a lot when I was a kid. What you catch is greatly dependant on the bait. Apples make good rabbit bait.

Coon is great barbecued but it will be a life and death situation before I'll try possum again :barf: ...I like crickets and worms better.

This trap was originally developed for rats but works fine for squirrels.
The hook shaped wire hangs bates and the trigger.
The loop wire above the roof (not the funnel shaped) is hooked on the trigger
and keeps the door open.

The bate is a pair of peanuts in a shell with some sunflower seeds.

wish this could help you, Brian.
