If yes, that would be fantastic!!! Up to date,i have seen few very good video reviews on HI stuff, but video reviews on Himalayan Imports are rather rarely seen and not too often made.....I am still waiting for my first dose of KHIV....20"CAK,so cant do any review on HI blade yet....some members here, however have amazing collections,of HI blades anybody willing to share them on youtube or so? Thanks

P.S.- What HI models would you like to see most and closely reviewed on video (youtube)? What is your current most desirable model? (maybe your wish will become truth,as some members might have your desirable knife and will be happy to make a video on it.....

Good idea, I have been thinking of making one for awhile. It's great marketing and will def drive up sales. I was actually kind of let down a year ago when I was beginning my kukri journey. There wasn't enough HI videos on YouTube. It really is a prolific site that draws in millions of potential buyers. There was a ton of vids about EXGH and KH but I think their business mostly comes from buyers that want it "now". They do keep a ton of stock and most people don't have the patience to wait for perfection. I was one of those impatient types, my first khuk was from EX... It was my first and LAST blade by them. I did more research and was led to HI... The rest is history. HI has become an integral part of my day. I can't go one day without checking in. I want to see HI be the #1 kukri manufacturerer and would like everyone to see the difference in quality. I own 2 non HI kukris which were bought at the very start oft collecting, the additional 15 kukris are all HI. I know there are a lot of people on this site with an even larger collections. It would bring people in if we did even a couple videos each. I also think we need to g et the word out on YouTube about the DOTD's. I don't want more sharks in the water but I do want what's best for HI and that's more customer.

please make some videos. i know i searched for them a lot while waiting for mine in the mail :). there are a few, but not many.

let us also remember that HI gets pretty good business without tons of advertisement, I say let auntie in on the scheme, if you want to make a youtube video make sure auntie is ready for more customers, even with all the new kami , they can barely keep up with old orders ! more kami may come this year, but loads of new customers have shown up this year alone!

so remember that karda and auntie respond to you, and ask them what they think!

I've been seriously considering doing this, and even wrote up a script for a review of my WW2. Just haven't got around to recording the thing yet...

Is HI the #1 kukri manufacturer sales wise? I already know they make the best kukris money can buy. I wasn't aware HI was the largest and most profitable kukri company.

I know I wanted more HI videos on YouTube. I think it's just about everyone's home page at work. What else are you suppose to do at work... work?

Business 101... The more customers the better, not sure we need permission to bring customers in. They can always hire more kamis. Never heard of a business owner complain about to more business. I just read a post about what a great year HI had and that has mainly to do with the amount of kukris being sold because more kukris equals bigger profits.

I don't know any of the specifics about HI's business practices, but that isn't always true. I gather that there aren't many more kamis out there who can make blades up to HI's standards. They also face problems with Nepal's infrastructure. Significantly increasing production while maintaining quality may be very difficult for HI. An increased customer base might just lead to longer waiting times, and more frustration. Of course, I could be completely wrong.

Gotta go with Finn on this one. Plus the more customers, the more sharks, the more headaches for Auntie, and less scores for Bawanna.

Unlike other companies I don't think Auntie would ever sacrifice quality for quantity, that would never happen but the temptation would be there.

I think they are pretty much selling as fast as they can make them but I got nothing solid to back that up with.

Regardless it's up to auntie and auntie alone to make the call. Of course there's nothing to stop a person from making a You Tube video neither. Wife called me a bad name and told me I've looked at You Tube before. Guess the links I'm sometimes sent are actually You Tube.
Not as computer challenged as I thought I guess.

Then again, it seems like a lot of the regulars here are either spending themselves dry, or getting close to completing their collections. Maybe HI could use an influx of new customers, all of whom will need dozens of knives to satisfy their HIKV.

Agreed 100%
The way I see it:
If HI practiced business model 101 i wouldnt buy from them period. Thats why they stand apart from conventional business practices today. They are more interested in putting the finest khukri in your hands money be danged. Of course it takes funds to keep it alive. HI will strive to make a customer happy even at a loss on an item because they know overall that a happy customer will come back. Its this model that keeps the trade alive and this knowledge of Khukri making from being a dying art. Where did the cho come from? Why the rings? why this why that?...ya see we already have lost some of this history we can only speculate. If you want to compare this company to other for profit companies then I can think of several companies that have them beat but it dont matter to me. My definition of the best khukri manufacturer is HI because they are keeping an art from being lost and putting this art in our hands for dirt cheap so that we can collectively keep it alive. Without getting political Ill stop now:D

Definitely, ndog. The way I see it, ideally a company will make a high-quality product in an environmentally-friendly way, while treating both their employees and their customers well. Himalayan Imports meets this standard, but the vast majority of companies don't - off the top of my head, I can maybe name 5 or 6.

Thank you guys for all your answers up to date,,,i wouldnt worry about any company having "too much business" because on the end of the day,,,,more orders=opportunity to grow/expand bussiness....Reason i posted this thread is fact, that apart of real life experience,,,,nothing can convince customer to correct decision to buy more, than good and relevant video review, with good quality resolution and some examples of functionality, chopping etc....This will not only help to determinate for each and every potential customer-what can serve him/her best, but also to increase demand of these products....helping companies like HI to expand....(if they have resources and will to do so,of course. It is up to discretion of each manufacturer, how much orders he/she will take up and to regulate this volume) It would be really great help from those who have large or small collections or just single pieces,if some of these guys can share their videos with the rest of us....For example,in my case-one video made me interested straight away very much in HI craftsmanship and after watching it over and over again,i was sure it is what i am looking for as first order....There are thousands like me out there, pictures just dont do enaugh justice as simply: well made, good lit video...could be also only table top review,if one just dont wish to dirty his/her blade by chopping etc....

I must say, that personally have no experience with EXGH (reviews on these are very rare to see),,,but did experience first hand few custom orders with KHHI (Khukuri House Handicraft Industry) I was convinced by their great customer video feedbacks on youtube and on variety of forums and must say on their defence here, each and every order was really done with mind blowing! - and precise craftsmanship with outstanding quality,I must say and my orders were definitelly not taken off the shelf, thats for sure. However there is said to be large number of companies (variety of "khukuri houses" in common) with questionable quality products, the ones you may be talking about....importing cheap, india or pakistan quick made stuff,or made with a lot of shortcuts etc....One must do a good non-biased research on this,to really find out what is worth the money and videos like these will always make good help to all interested.

as a bit of perspective, I have been planning my customs for about 3 years, their silversmith had severe eye damage due to work injury, and many kami were coming and going, and auntie said I should wait until someone we can trust to do the job comes along; like sher, thamar or purna ( at that time I was trying to get raj kumar to come back just for this purpose :D)

so yeah, remember that this is a company that cares about its individual workers, they are not making mass production blades and that is why we love them--- I do not mind more people sharing the love and joy of HI, but I think auntie is doing really well with word of mouth , I mean lets all think about how many people we have told about this place , many of whom are now right here with us !

I know auntie and karda would call on us if they wanted our help with getting out the word, I just think the word is getting out at a pace that is appropriate right now, just like finn said, gotta also remember infrastructure limits.

so yeah , there is nothing wrong with showing how much you love the HI product, but lets not start a campaign specifically to bring in new customers when we are having no trouble getting new customers practically every day.

(lets just think about how many people have showed up here and become contributing members of the community just in the past 2 months)

that being said, a great focus for energy like this is kami fundraisers--- if you really really love HI, show them by helping the general kami fund ( medical, educational and social stuff like parties)--- the best way to do this is always add another 10 or 20 or even just 5 dollars over what auntie asks you to pay after shipping, and just ask that it go to the kami.

remember these guys make it all possible and they make pure working art.

Sorry I disagree but we are all entitled to our opinions. More customers should never be a problem and if they are... A new business model should be written. I know my boss and I attend BNI or business networking meetings weekly. You actually have to pay (4 figures) a year just to attend those meetings to create new business both local and abroad. Auntie just hired one of the best kamis out there in Purna. I am sure there are others out there that need work. Our dollar goes along way in that part of the world and IMHO more business is good not bad. Just my opinion unless your just concerned about more sharks in the water which I think is selfish.

Auntie and HI had a good year because they sold a lot of kukris guys... Let's not forget that selling more blades pays the bills. I have never heard of a business owner complain because sales are up.
