I met Deryk at my local shop here in Bozeman, he was a very nice guy, very excited about his work, he is very new, and still developing his style, but overall he seems to be very well advanced with his skills.
I passed up a chance to buy one of his firsts, stupid, stupid! It was the one pictured in Tac Knives, if you have seen it.
Anyone else with opinions??

I saw him at the N.Y. knife show. This guy is good! Before that I only saw pictures of some of his folders in the magazines. He seems to be comming into his own.I noticed his prices
rising along with him.If he continues he will
be one of the top makers.(whatever their doing in Montana, they should share with the other states)The Montana damascus makers are
passing everyone. It seems theres a few new ones every year comming out of nowhere.

I think his prices are obscene! Thats why I had to pass on that knife, 550.00 for a first year maker seemed really high, to me at least. I know his quality is good, and if he keeps this up his prices will go even higher!

Deryk is a great guy, and for a fairly new maker he is very good and has already developed his own style. He will certainly be a sought after maker in the future. He has however been making knives for at least 2 years that I know of.

Ill be stopping to see him this weekend hopefully and bum some G-10 from him........

Robb,

The knife I spoke of was more than a year ago, so at the time he was still a first year maker, although I di not hold that against him!! He does very nice stuff!!

Robb,

I did not mean to give the wrong impression by saying "my" shop, I meant the local shop in Bozeman, Tomas McGuane's shop, I am sure you know him also, I am just a lowly wood floor imstaller. You sound as though you have taken offense to my coments about Deryk, I did not mean to sound negative, about him or his work, I like it, I just can't afford to buy any of it. Just to throw it in....I really like your work also!
