Anybody use a Khukuri

I find the kardas on all but my 25" CAK (Kukzilla) to be too small for my hands. If I wanted a third HI knife, I'd take the R-6, since the blade has a very nice sweep for skinning, but I've done that with my R-10 with little problem. I've even skinned and cleaned fish with the kukri itself to see if it was really impossible to do with such a large blade, like most "experienced" [internet] woodsmen assert. It's not impossible. Not easy, but not impossible.

I can definitely see where the karda would be too small for someone with big hands. Fortunately, I'm a scrawny little bastid with little girl hands and don't have that problem.

+3 on the addition of the R-10. Mine goes with me most of the time as well as do the karda and chakma.

I have a 15-inch HI Ang Khola that I have been using for a couple of years. I put it to the test a few years back when we has some major tree limb damage due to heavy snow and it performed beautifully and the blade edge held up well.

Go with Himalayan Imports and you cant go wrong. I would also suggest staying in the 15-16 inch range for hiking or carrying with you as they can be quite heavy. Their website is very informative.

I really like the Traditional Khukuri of Nepal, And the Khukuri's of H.I. are "The Best Of The Import's" I'm looking for something with more of a Tactical type Style & Balance and a lighter weight, Has anyone used one of the Khukuri Knive's from MMHW ? There calling my name "Big Time !" http://www.mineralmountain.com/kukri.htm
